Finish forest company UPM is taking part in the international public tendering process in the port of Montevideo organized by the National Ports Administration (ANP) of Uruguay.The scope of the concession tender is the building and operation of a port terminal specialized in the storage and shipping of pulp, chemicals and other inputs related to pulp production with a capacity to handle approximately 2 million tonnes of pulp annually. The tender includes the design, financing, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the pulp terminal. The tenure of the concession would be for 50 years.Port development, supporting an efficient and reliable outbound logistics, is a key fundamental for the potential installation of the third pulp mill in the country.

APM Terminals Inland Services Uruguay (also known as Montevideo Port Services SA) switched on 648 solar panels this month, capable of producing 228.6 MWh per year, enough to meet up to 90 percent of the facilities entire annual consumption.By switching to their own renewable energy source, Inland Services Uruguay, the largest equipment maintenance and repair provider in the country, will reduce its CO2 emissions by almost 50 tonnes per year. The Naval Academy of the Uruguay Navy has successfully completed the acquisition and installation of a simulator complex by Transas including navigation and maneuvering simulator NTPRO 5000, GMDSS Communications simulator TGS 5000 and Engine Room simulator ERS 5000 SOLO. The project acquired through international bidding, with the participation of five world leading manufacturers culminated in the award of the contract to Transas USA and its local representative Arnaldo C. Castro SA. The new simulators replace the previous Transas simulators installed in 2000.
