Sovcomflot Tanker Carrying US LNG Arrives in France

A Russian-owned tanker carrying U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) arrived on Monday at anchorage outside the French port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire, according to vessel tracking data from Refinitiv.The Sovcomflot vessel SCF La Perouse was carrying LNG from Sempra Energy's Cameron LNG facility in the United States. France has not barred Russian vessels from arriving at its ports.The Elengy terminal in Montoir, where the tanker is scheduled to unload, is operating normally and has not changed its plan to handle the gas, a spokeswoman said. The LNG terminal is owned by energy and services firm Engie.The United States in February blacklisted Sovcomflot vessels over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

EU Nations Considering Banning Russian Ships from Ports

European Union countries are considering a ban on Russian ships entering the bloc's ports, aiming to tighten sea restrictions after a halt on air traffic, European officials say, a step that would further hamper Russia's commercial shipments.Britain already decided on Monday to deny entry to British ports to all ships that are Russian owned, operated, controlled, chartered, registered or flagged. Canada followed on Tuesday, saying it would shut its ports to Russian-owned ships later this week, a day after it banned Russian crude oil imports.

Michelin to Use Sailing Cargo Ships for Tire Transport

The Michelin Group said it signed a deal with French startup NEOLINE to transport its tires across the Atlantic aboard sailing cargo ships. Elengy Acquires Fosmax LNG

Elengy, a subsidiary of French energy group Engie, has acquired French energy group Total's 27.5% stake in Fosmax LNG, owner of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Fos Cavaou in southern France.Elengy now owns 100% of its three LNG terminals: Fos Cavaou, Fos Tonkin and Montoir-de-Bretagne. Elengy's Fos Tonkin LNG Capacity for Sale

French liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal operator Elengy, a unit of the energy giant Engie, is preparing the sale of access capacities to the Fos Tonkin LNG terminal for the period 2021-2030.Within the sale process, Elengy will offer its potential customers several types of services, including the conventional unloading of Medmax-type LNG tankers (vessel with a capacity of 75,000m3 of LNG), the reloading of micro-tankers for LNG bunkering needs, as well as the LNG trucks loading.Compared to currently-used shipping fuels, LNG is economically competitive and reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by a quarter, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90% and sulphur (SOx) emissions and particulate matter by almost 100%. The sale will be launched in February 2019.

Elengy LNG Terminal Hit Records in 2018

Elengy, a unit of the French energy company and LNG player Engie, reported record activities at its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals during 2018.The French LNG operator said in a press release thatits Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal also reached a number of milestones during the year. Elengy and its subsidiary Fosmax LNG berthed 215 vessels  at its facilities, with 106 TWh of natural gas delivered to the transmission network, a 13 percent jump on 2017 figures, it said.It reported 21 LNG transshipment operations (berth to berth) and 19 reloading of standard LNG carriers (from shore to vessel). Russian Arctic LNG Liftings Halved as Ice Impedes

Shipments from Russia's Arctic liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant picked up from late last week after maintenance and unseasonably thick sea ice impeded exports this month. The Boris Vilkitski LNG tanker left the area of the Yamal plant on Friday for France's Montoir terminal after spending more than a week idling fully-laden offshore. The Christophe de Margerie tanker, which had spent more than a week circling north of Yamal above the entrance to Ob Bay, went in over the weekend and appears to have loaded, according to ship-tracking data. It is now leaving the area. Last week, thick sea ice paralysed marine traffic in Ob Bay, Russia's state-run nuclear-powered tanker firm Roastomflot said.

Elengy LNG Trans-Shipment at Montoir-de-Bretagne

Elengy, a unit of the French energy company and LNG player Engie, said that the LNG receiving terminal in Montoir-de-Bretagne, managed by the company, has just performed a new generation LNG transshipment. The ice-class LNG carrier Fedor Litke (170 000 cm capacity) has delivered to the LNG Jurojin (155 000 cm capacity) an LNG cargo the size of the yearly gas consumption of a city like Nantes. US Could Get First LNG Import from Russia despite Sanctions

A vessel that may be carrying liquefied natural gas from Russia's new Yamal LNG export terminal could be heading to the United States despite sanctions against the company that operates the Russian facility, according to a report by S&P Global Platts and Thomson Reuters shipping data. The tanker Chris. De Margerie picked up a cargo from Novatek PAO's Yamal facility, Russia's second LNG export terminal, on Dec. 9 and dropped it off at National Grid Plc's Isle of Grain LNG facility near London on Dec. 28, according to Thomson Reuters data.

France's CGT Will Block Elengy's LNG Terminals

France's hardline CGT union said on Monday that workers at Elengy, which operates three liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in France, will go on strike from midnight until May 26 midnight included.   The union said that from Tuesday morning, its members will block two out of three Elengy terminals at Montoir-de-Bretagne on the Atlantic coast and at Fos Tonkin on the Mediterranean coast, where no trucks or vessels will be allowed to load or unload.   The CGT said its members at Elengy will be joining oil sector workers, whose rolling strikes over planned labour reforms have intensified in recent weeks and led to fuel supply disruptions in France.     (Reporting by Bate Felix)

Euronext to Add More Wheat Silos at Ports

Euronext is to expand the number of port delivery points for wheat traded on its Paris-based futures market <0#BL2:> and is considering a system of storage certificates to cater for inland grain operators, the European exchange said on Tuesday. Its steps to reinforce its wheat futures, a price benchmark for the European market, come after it scrapped a short-lived premium wheat product, and as CME Group is moving closer to launching a rival European wheat contract. Euronext will launch an additional delivery point at the northern French port of Rouen from September 2017 after reaching an agreement with trading firm Lecureur to use its silo there, Olivier Raevel, head of commodities at Euronext, told Reuters.

CMA CGM Increases Port Calls and TEU Capacity

French container line CMA CGM has announced imminent changes to its PCRF line service which links Northern Europe with the French West Indies, by adding two new calls at Zeebrugge and Rotterdam and increasing freight capacity on the route. The company says this will mean customers will benefit from the enhanced import and export cargo opportunities. During the first quarter of 2016, PCRF line’s capacity which links the French West Indies to Europe will be increased by replacing current 2,200 TEU capacity vessels by 2,800 TEU capacity vessels. This move supports regional growth of both the French Indies market, currently around 3%, and promotes intra-Caribbean trade developments.

CMA CGM Upgrades Europe-Africa Service

Worldwide shipping firm the CMA CGM Group announced plans to upgrade its services joining Europe to Africa, altering its EURAF 1, EURAF 2 and EURAF 4 services with the goal of providing a more complete service offering to Africa, North Europe and the Mediterranean. The EURAF 1 service, that connects North European to West African markets, will add a call at London Containers Terminal – Tilbury each week. This new call will directly join the United Kingdom to Africa, and the service will provide competitive transit times allowing the export of banana Reefer containers from West Africa to England. The inaugural call of the rotation in Tilbury took place on August 10. Algeciras used to be called only once on the previous rotation.

CMA CGM Updates European, African Services

The CMA CGM Group announce the specialization of its EURAF 1 and EURAF 2 services to meet the needs of its African and European clients. Accordinng to the shipping company, the services will offer two weekly services from Europe and the Mediterranean to Africa instead of one; improved reliability and punctuality, with a new calls distribution between the different EURAF services; and strategic calls in Hamburg and London Gateway ports to Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal, and 2 weekly calls in Antwerp.

European Response to Ebola Threat

All vessels must now submit their Health Maritime Declaration prior to arrival at Spanish ports. Health Authorities will take all necessary precautions (inspections, shore leave prohibition, etc.) only for vessels coming from affected countries (Guinea Konacry, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria) or that have visited any of these countries lately. Every Master must report any illness symptoms amongst his crew. Any ill crew member must complete a form indicating (among other information) the last countries he has visited. Vessels should complete and deliver the Maritime Declaration of Health. Measures taken on board should also be noted on the ship sanitation control certificate.
