MGT Orders Liebherr Ship-to-Shore Cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes, manufacturer in the Republic of Ireland, and Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGT) have signed a contract for the supply of four ship to shore (STS) container cranes to the Cast Container Terminal in Montreal, Canada.The cranes will be delivered in 2021, said a press note from the manufacturers of ship to shore cranes, rail mounted gantry cranes and rubber tyre gantry cranes.The cranes will easily handle the largest container vessels currently visiting the Port of Montreal and are future proofed to handle even larger vessels of up to 21 container rows across the deck. Ottawa Express First Ship in Port of Montreal in 2018

By crossing the downstream limits of the Port of Montreal at Sorel at 11:55 a.m., the Ottawa Express became the first ocean-going vessel to reach the Port of Montreal without a stopover in 2018. The Ottawa Express under the command of Captain Rakesh Kumar, is a container ship operated by Hapag-Lloyd and represented in Montreal by the Robert Reford Agency. The Ottawa Express left the Port of Liverpool, England, on December 21st. Fiera Axium Consortium Buys Montreal Terminals

A consortium led by Fiera Axium Infrastructure Inc. The consortium includes Desjardins Group, via its insurance subsidiaries and its pension plan, Manulife, Fonds de solidarité FTQ and Industrial Alliance. Fiera Axium, an independent portfolio management firm focused on infrastructure investments in Canada and the United States, joined co-operative Desjardins Group, financial services provider Manulife, labour fund Fonds de solidarité FTQ and Industrial Alliance to buy the facility, known as Montreal Gateway Terminals. “Montreal Gateway Terminals represents an essential infrastructure asset” so fits with Fiera Axium’s investment strategy, Stéphane Mailhot, president of Fiera Axium, said in a statement.

Montreal Gateway Terminals Implement Navis TOS

Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGT) and Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation announce the successful implementation of the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) at MGT. The implementation was a migration from Navis’ legacy software SPARCS and an internally developed data host system to N4, Navis’ latest generation terminal operating system. Located in close proximity to strategic markets in the U.S. and Canada, MGT has an annual TEU capacity in excess of 1.8 MM and services all aspects of terminal operations, including ship, gate and rail operations. Because of its geographic position and industry leadership, MGT is a strategic gateway between North America, Europe, and the Mediterranean for container cargo.

CP Ships Appoints Director of Environmental Services

CP Ships Limited has appointed environmental management specialist Dennis Fortune as its first Director of Environmental Services, based in Montreal. Mr Fortune is responsible for leading CP Ships' extensive environmental management program which involves all aspects of the company's operations including marine and terminal activities, hazardous cargo handling, occupational health and safety and compliance with local and international regulations. "We are proud of our environmental management track record and, with Dennis's extensive experience, we look forward to building on our strengths," commented CP Ships' CEO Ray Miles. Mr Fortune has more than 20 years of environmental management experience, most recently as head of his own consultancy, Dennis Fortune Environmental Associates Inc.

CP Ships, FastShip Announce Agreement

CP Ships has signed an agreement with FastShip to assume commercial and marketing management for FastShip's TransAtlantic services. London-based CP Ships is the TransAtlantic's largest container service operator with twelve separate loops, and the seventh largest world-wide. FastShip, headquartered in Philadelphia, is creating a high-speed Transatlantic transport network. allow for pooling opportunities between FastShip and CP Ships. CP Ships 3Q Results

CP Ships Limited today announced unaudited operating income for third quarter 2004 of $41 million, up from restated $38 million operating income in third quarter 2003. Net income available to common shareholders was $31 million compared to restated $27 million in the same period 2003. Basic earnings per share was $0.34 compared with restated $0.30 in third quarter 2003. EBITDA(A) was $72 million compared to restated $67 million in third quarter 2003. Free cash flow (B) was $95 million for third quarter 2004 and $130 million for January through September 2004. Volume of 578,000 teu was another quarterly record and was up 4% from third quarter last year, driven by growth in the TransAtlantic and Asia.

Canada Maritime Agrees to Container Slot Sale

CP Ships Limited's division Canada Maritime, along with OOCL, its partner in the St Lawrence Coordinated Service (SLCS), has agreed to charter a fixed number of container slots to members of the CANEX consortium, Maersk Sealand, Mediterranean Shipping Company and P&O Nedlloyd, in the North America-Europe trade via Montreal. The two year agreement takes effect from January 2003. In addition, to improve operational efficiency, CANEX expects to move its existing service from its current Montreal marine terminal to CP Ships' Montreal Gateway Terminals. The move is expected during the first quarter 2003. Initially, slots will be taken on three SLCS 2800 teu ice-strengthened ships, Canmar Pride, Canmar Honour and OOCL Belgium which operate on Route 1 Montreal-Thamesport-Antwerp-Le Havre.

CP Ships Announces $34M 4Q Profit

CP Ships Limited today announced unaudited fourth quarter 2002 operating income before exceptional items of US $34 million, unchanged from the third quarter and slightly down from $35 million in fourth quarter 2001. Basic earnings per share before exceptional items was $0.23 compared with last year's $0.30 and third quarter's $0.27. Volume at 550,000 teu was a quarterly record, up 17% from fourth quarter 2001, reflecting both strong growth and the first full quarter of Italia Line. Average freight rates increased 1% from third quarter 2002 but were 4% lower than fourth quarter 2001. Cash from operations before exceptional payments was $29 million or $0.32 per share. Net income available to common shareholders was $23 million, compared to $25 million in fourth quarter 2001.

CP Ships Posts First Quarter Loss

CP Ships Limited announced an unaudited first quarter 2003 operating loss of $2 million before exceptional items, a $4 million improvement on the $6 million operating loss in first quarter 2002 and compared with $34 million operating income before exceptional items in fourth quarter 2002. Basic loss per share before exceptional items was $0.12 compared with last year’s first quarter loss per share of $0.14 and fourth quarter 2002’s earnings per share of $0.23 before exceptional items. loss was $21 million representing a basic loss per share of $0.23 compared with $11 million net loss in the same quarter last year or loss per share of $0.14. Net income for fourth quarter 2002 was $23 million, a basic earnings per share of $0.26.
