MacArtney, Moog Focal in Expansion Mode

Moog Focal Technologies Corporation and the MacArtney Group have agreed to intensify their multi-service partnership aiming at expanding their long-term business cooperation in favour of their extensive customer portfolio. MacArtney has accepted responsibility for the in-field sales and after-sales support of Focal products in the commercial marine markets of the north-west region of North America via its office located in Victoria, BC in Canada. Moog Supplies Camera System for WHOI Research Vessel

Moog Inc. Space and Defense Group has supplied the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) with a new, rugged camera system for launch and recovery of the Alvin submarine aboard the research vessel Atlantis II. The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command mandates that the crew of Atlantis II be able to see the latch pin, which is part of the launch and recovery system (LARS) for use with Alvin. MacArtney Completes 40 FPSO Swivel Projects

In its capacity as Focal - MOOG Components Group representative in Scandinavia and Holland, the MacArtney Group has recently passed a momentous system delivery milestone. Since the partnership was initiated, MacArtney has facilitated the sale and delivery of more than 40 Focal swivel solutions to offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels operating across the world. FPSOs are offshore production facilities that house both processing equipment and storage for produced hydrocarbons.

Oceans '13 MTS/IEEE San Diego Preview

Heeding the call to join “An Ocean in Common,” authors flooded the Oceans ‘13 MTS/IEEE San Diego technical program committee with a record number of abstracts in a single day. Special topics include an Ultra-deep track discussing current and prospective robotic technologies, plus a panel of scientists to consider research questions. Oceans2013 Chair Bob Wernli, and Co-Chair Kevin Hardy, developer of the unmanned landers for James Cameron’s DeepSea Challenge Expedition, will be the session conveners. “James’ intention is to be certain the door remains open to other explorers,” Hardy said.

Lockheed Martin Seeking Atlantic Canada Companies for Shipbuilding Projects

Lockheed Martin Canada, a major supplier of systems, software and professional services to the Royal Canadian Navy, will be in Saint John, Halifax and St. John’s this week to meet with companies that could become partners and suppliers on shipbuilding projects, including the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships and other future programs. In each location, Lockheed Martin officials will provide a briefing on how companies can prepare and position themselves for shipbuilding work through major contractors and then will conduct a series of one-on-one meetings to learn about the capabilities of many New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador based companies.

MPRI Signs Contract with Dalian Port

MPRI, a global leader in maritime simulator products, services and turnkey training facilities, today announced the sale of its maritime crane simulator to the Dalian Port Container Terminal Co., Ltd (DPCM), located in Dayao Bay, Dalian, China. The MPRI crane simulator is the sixth purchased by a Chinese port to date adding to those already in use at the Ports of Yantian, Ningbo, Tianjin and Shanghai. In addition, the DPCM simulator will include the only module on the market today for tandem-lift cranes. The MPRI crane simulator can be tailored to meet the precise needs of various ports' crane systems. DPCM specifically purchased a back projector model consisting of two modules, a ship-to-shore (STS) dock gantry single-lift system with tandem-lift technology and a rubber-tire gantry (RTG).
