KONGSBERG Integrated Automation for LNG Fuelled Bulker

Kongsberg Maritime has been chosen to supply a full integrated automation solution including the first delivery of its advanced new Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) for a newbuild 50,000 DWT LNG Fuelled bulk carrier, ordered by South Korean ship owner, Ilshin Shipping Company. The new bulk carrier will be built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and is scheduled for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2017. It is the first dual-fuel merchant vessel to be built in South Korea. Ilshin’s new bulk carrier signals the beginnings of a move towards LNG bunkering in the far east, driven by the lower cost of fuel and the need for more environmentally friendly vessel operation…

Höegh Readies New Horizon Vessels

Höegh Autoliners ordered the latest additions to its fleet, the New Horizon vessels, in which the information technology on board is fully integrated and connected with the land organisation via satellite. The information and communications technology is revolutionising shipping, bringing with it a new era of ‘cyber-enabled’ ships, says the company. Jan Rune Mørken, Head of Newbuilding in Höegh Autoliners says: "One of the greatest features of the information technology we have applied on board the New Horizon vessels is that all systems on board are now connected and integrated. Our crew can control the majority of all technical installations on board by viewing only one data dashboard and we can connect with them at all times.

Kongsberg Tech Chosen for 13 Newbuild Projects

Kongsberg Maritime’s Full Picture solution has been selected by Chinese and Korean shipbuilders for 13 advanced newbuild offshore vessels with a total value of 330 MNOK. Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co. (DSIC), CIMC Raffles (CIMC), Cosco Shipyard (COSCO) and Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard (HDZ) in China, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea are the shipbuilders that have selected Kongsberg’s Full Picture technology deliveries. Kongsberg Awarded Several New Asian Projects

Kongsberg Maritime was recently awarded separate contracts with three major shipyards in Asia for major technology deliveries to specialist offshore vessels. Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea, and Cosco Shipyard in China have each selected Kongsberg “Full Picture” solutions for, in total, nine advanced Offshore Drilling Units, an Accommodation Unit, a Multipurpose Construction Vessel and four LNG vessels with Integrated Automation Systems.

Kongsberg Contracted for Four Drillships and Six Options

Kongsberg was awarded an offshore integrated monitoring and control system contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). The contract covers deliveries to four Transocean owned newbuild drillships, with an option for Kongsberg to deliver products and services for six more drillships. "We call this a 'full picture' solution, as it includes dynamic positioning, position reference systems, thruster control, integrated automation systems, riser management and environmental monitoring within the same project.
