APM Terminals Barcelona Cuts CO2

The electrical capacity of the APM Terminals Barcelona has also been improved, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 600 tonnes per annum, said the international container terminal operating company headquartered in The Hague.As part of a broader Port of Barcelona’s programme for alternative fuel use, APM Terminals is also working with LNG services provider HAM, technology provider IDIADA and Naturgy Iberia, on a pilot to convert an existing straddle carrier to natural gas.Natural gas burns a lot more cleanly and efficiently than diesel. The straddle carrier’s two 150 kW diesel-based motor engines are currently being converted to natural gas while maintaining the same level of performance.

Container Shippers Opt For Waterway Transport At Dunkirk

After starting a new waterway container service between Dunkirk and Valenciennes in May this year, Nord Ports Shuttle (NPS) is gearing up for a significant increase in its transport capacity on the Dunkirk to Dourges line.This initiative is a response to fast-growing demand: in June NPS again beat a monthly record for traffic to and from Dunkirk, with nearly 2,800 TEU.The LDCT terminal at Dourges is currently served by two barges carrying 78 and 88 TEU respectively, offering four rotations a week with a capacity of 330 TEU a week at import.From 1 September onwards a third vessel with 88 TEU capacity will also ply this route, bringing the total capacity to more than 500 TEU at import and six calls a week…

Port of Kiel Presents Berth Project

Hutton's Moves to New Headquarters

Hutton's, a UK-based ship supplier, has moved into a large new head office and warehouse facility to accommodate the company's growing business. Located in Witty Street, Hull, the new double-sized unit is called Dianthus House and has access straight onto the A63 and national motorway network, along with being strategically located for access to Europe overnight via the Hull to Rotterdam ferry. The large new facility provides increased storage, warehousing and logistics facilities along with larger administration offices. Managing Director Alex Taylor says: "This is an exciting time for us and an important step to prepare for our next ten years of business.
