SITA UK, Forth Ports Form Port Recycling Hub

Suez Environment subsidiary, SITA UK, and Forth Ports Limited announced a long-term partnership that will see the creation of a major recycling and resource management hub based at the Port of Tilbury on the River Thames. The partnership is part of a growth strategy for both companies that includes the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, of Forth Ports-owned Nordic Recycling by SITA UK under a share purchase agreement and a long-term agreement between the two companies. As part of this agreement, SITA UK will deliver a new alternative fuels waste material processing facility at the Port of Tilbury, which will process both solid recovered fuel (SRF) and refuse derived fuel (RDF).

ONGC bags Dun & Bradstreet Corporate Excellence Award - 2014

ONGC was honored with the prestigious corporate award – ‘The Dun & Brandstreet Corporate Excellence Award’ for its stellar management and leadership on May 28,2014. ONGC received the award for excellence in the Oil and Gas Production sector. Mr A K Jain, Executive Director, Chief- Offshore Engineering Services, received the award on the behalf of the organization. In all, there were 46 sectors which were recognized for their excellence and these were chosen among the top 500 companies of India, by the primary yardstick of their contribution to India’s GDP. These 500 companies contribute to over 20 percent of the nation’s GDP and are the pillars of economic progress of the country.

IMRF Draws Safety Conclusions From HK Meeting

The International Maritime Rescue Federation's (IMRF) Asia Pacific Regional meeting in Hong Kong summed up that improving search and rescue (SAR) communications infrastructure, advancing an integrated regional radio network and developing common SAR systems and procedures between SAR organisations in the Asia Pacific area would help save more lives in the waters of the region. Seventeen Search and Rescue organisations agreed the need for a plan to improve live saving across the area. having identified developing trends, such as an increasing number of super cruise liners carrying up to 6000 persons per vessel, more crossing ferry traffic  leading to a greater risk of collision…

USS New Orleans, 11th MEU Train to Combat Piracy

Sailors assigned to the USS New Orleans (LPD 18) operate a rigid-hull inflatable boat during a practice mission with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU) Maritime Raid Force.

USS NEW ORLEANS, At sea (NNS) -- The crew of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) along with an embarked Maritime Raid Force (MRF) from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) conducted its first joint boarding training mission during a pre-deployment exercise, Aug. 14. The operation simulated a non-compliant boarding where MRF Marines boarded a vessel seized by pirates, confiscated weapons and arresting those suspected of piracy. "This was the first time we've ever done it on LPD 18…
