MSC Consolidates HQ in Norfolk
Military Sealift Command (MSC) received approval Oct. 30 to officially begin geographically consolidating at Naval Station (NS) Norfolk, Virginia, a single headquarters that since 2012 has been physically split between the Washington Navy Yard, D.C., and NS Norfolk. The consolidation is scheduled to be complete by the end of Fiscal Year 2019. Consolidating MSC headquarters staff in Norfolk helps streamline processes, maximize customer service with our Navy, and cut costs associated with maintaining two geographic headquarters' locations. MSC Completes Annual Antarctica Resupply Mission
Military Sealift Command-chartered container ship MV Green Wave departed McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Feb. 25, after delivering more than 6.8 million pounds of vital supplies in support of Operation Deep Freeze. ODF is the annual Joint Task Force Support For Antarctica mission to resupply the remote scientific outpost. Green Wave followed MSC-chartered tanker MT Maersk Peary, which brought more than 6.3 million gallons of crucial diesel, gasoline and jet fuel to McMurdo Station Jan. 28-31.

MSC Delivers Patrol Boat to Iraqi Navy
Military Sealift Command-chartered heavy lift crane ship MV Ocean Titan delivered the second of a new class of U.S.-built patrol boats to Manama, Bahrain. The 115-ft boat is destined for Iraq, where it will be turned over to the Iraqi navy and used primarily to patrol coastal waters and provide security for the country's oil platforms. This is the second of an expected 15 identical vessels being built for and delivered to the Iraqi navy in support of U.S. and Iraqi efforts to reconstitute Iraq's ability to enforce its maritime sovereignty and security. The Iraqi navy acquired the boats as part of the U.S. Navy's Foreign Military Sales Program. "Our foreign partners rely on the U.S. Navy's expertise in combatant craft acquisition," said Rear Adm.

MSC Europe Experiencing Steady Growth Stream
MSC (Europe) Ltd., the European subsidiary of Maritime Services Corporation, Hood River, Ore. is currently handling various projects throughout the U.K. and Europe, mainly a $2 million conversion of a fast ferry into a casino vessel for Israeli-based Athissa Shipping. MSC provided ship units, project management and fitters for installation of duty free and other shops onboard Fred Olsen's MV Black Watch. The company also installed galley modifications and waste handling equipment onboard Arcalia Shipping's Princess Danae at A&P Falmouth. The company has further extended its expansion capabilities with new offices in Cape Canaveral and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to meet the growing demands in these markets.
