Shipping Industry Signs Up to Pilot XVELA Platform

Management Appointments at Modern Terminals

Modern Terminals Limited (MTL), Hong Kong’s longest established container terminal operator, today announced the appointment of Mr. Keith Saunders as its new Managing Director – Hong Kong, effective from 1st February 2016. Crowley Announces Executive Changes

Tom Crowley Jr., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Crowley Maritime Corporation and Richard du Moulin, president of Marine Transport Corporation (MTC), jointly announced that with the successful integration of MTC into Crowley, du Moulin will be resigning from MTC to pursue other business interests. Crowley acquired Weehawken, N.J.-based MTC in February 2001. Mark Filanowski, senior vice president and chief financial officer of MTC, will also be leaving the company. Both resignations will take effect April 1, 2002. du Moulin had been Chairman of MTC since 1989 when he and Filanowski, utilizing their company Intrepid Shipping, acquired what was then NASDAQ-listed Marine Transport Lines, Inc. (MTL).

118-ft. Yacht Designed to Travel to 70 Knots

Three Vericor Power Systems' TF50 marine aeroderivative gas turbines have been selected to power the 118 Wallypower high-speed yacht being built by Intermarine Shipyard, Sarzana, Italy for Wally Yacht. This is Wally Yacht's first foray into high-speed power yachts, and the company's initial application of gas turbines. Wally Yacht, based in Monte Carlo, Monaco, is a world-renowned designer of high-speed sailing and power yachts. The 118-ft. yacht will feature three TF50 gas turbines in a Combined Diesel Or Gas (CODOG) turbine configuration. Two TF50s will be used as side or "wing" engines, with one small auxiliary diesel engine connected to each wing engine. The diesels will provide for very slow maneuvering only.

Crowley To Acquire Marine Transport Corporation

Crowley Maritime Corporation and Marine Transport Corporation jointly announced that Crowley has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Marine Transport Corporation for $7.00 per share. Under the agreement entered into by the parties, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crowley will commence a tender offer within the next 10 business days. The transaction is conditioned upon a minimum number of Marine Transport's shares being tendered, regulatory approvals, and other standard closing conditions. The tender offer is not conditioned upon financing. Thomas B. Duramax Marine, a world leader in water-lubricated rubber bearings, recently broke ground on a new facility that will streamline the company's current manufacturing operations. The facility, with approximately 65,000 sq. ft. of factory and office space will consolidate production and administration into one centralized location in Troy Township, Ohio, approximately 40 miles south east of Cleveland. Crowley Completes Tender Offer For MTC

Crowley Maritime Corporation completed its tender offer and has accepted 6,099,774 shares of Marine Transport Corporation common stock. The shares tendered represent approximately 98% of Marine Transport Corporation's total outstanding common stock, including approximately 43,724 shares, which are guaranteed to be delivered. Crowley will purchase these shares as soon as possible at the price of $7.00 per share, net to the seller in cash. Crowley intends to proceed promptly to complete the previously announced proposed merger with Marine Transport Corporation and to acquire the remaining untendered Marine Transport Corporation shares, subject to appraisal rights.

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Capt. Bill Taylor has been promoted to vice president of bulk petroleum and chemical transportation and will manage the commercial activities of the company's petroleum tankers and barges. Titan Leads Fire Call for MRA

At just after 0100hrs EDT July 22nd, 2002 the M/V Patriot, a 710-ft., 35,000-ton tanker was in the Florida Straits off West Palm Beach, having sailed from New York bound for Texas, when alarms on the bridge informed the crew that they had a fire in the engine room. The general alarm was sounded as the crew dressed and made their way through smoke and heat to muster forward of the vessel's accommodation structure. With all hands accounted for, the vessel's Master, realized that the fire was too large for his crew to fight. The crew, having been drilled for just such an event, began to seal all vents and engine room access to enable the ships CO2 system to work effectively in combating the fire.
