Signet Continues US Expansion

Signet continues Gulf of Mexico expansion and opens U.S. Signet Maritime Corporation informs it has completed Phase II of a $250 million capital expansion program with the acquisition and integration of the Harvey Gulf OTV fleet. The corporate strategy was to design and own vessels for multidisciplinary work, and diversify with the addition of the powerful offshore vessels, enabling Signet to broaden its services into new market segments, the company explained. Continuing this U.S. expansion, Signet has been awarded multi-vessel, long term charters by Trailer Bridge, Inc., an international freight service company, to perform weekly sailings from Jacksonville, Florida to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

Two Ramparts Class Tugs for Signet Maritime

In the summer of this year, Signet Maritime took delivery of Signet Arcturus & Signet Polaris, the eighth and ninth tugs designed for them by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, Canada to add to its fleet of 37 conventional and ASD vessels. The tugs were constructed at Patti Marine Enterprises in Pensacola, Florida. The tugs are based on the Signet Weatherly design, but with additional power and higher bollard pull. The vessels are intended for multidisciplinary work including offshore support, towing, ship-assist, ship escort, subsea and rig moves.

Integrated Drilling Service Agreement to Schlumberger

Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for the Norwegian continental shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord , Tordis/Vigdis, Visund. The agreement also covers exploration drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). Taking effect on 1 September 2014 the contract has a value of NOK 1.15 billion for an initial duration of two years. The contract also has three optional extensions, each for two years. The contract will provide jobs for some 350 people in Schlumberger Norway over the next two years. Services under the agreement include the delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), logging while drilling (LWD) and mud logging services.

SENER Signs Two new Agreements

Both organizations are bolstering their work in the areas of composite materials, cryogenics and medical instrument development. The mixed research unit will represent a joint investment of around €200,000 and the engineering firm SENER is building its new corporate building in Parc del Alba, close to the ASCAMM Technology Center. SENER and the ASCAMM Technology Center, a member of the TECNIO network, have signed two new strategic collaboration agreements in the areas of cryogenics and acoustics, respectively. These agreements are part of the strategy of the Joint R&D&I Unit created by the two organizations a year ago, the goals of which are implementing research and development projects and developing technology and innovation in various technological and industrial fields.
