Port and terminal operator PSA International and ground handler and in-flight caterer  SATS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in seamlessly connecting their sea and air transport services, with the goal of improving supply chain efficiency and boosting Singapore’s status as a multimodal transport hub.Under the MoU, PSA and SATS will work together on initiatives such as “yard-to-port” data linkages, network extensions between both companies, and enhanced track-and-trace capabilities. The CMA CGM Group announced it will merge its subsidiaries MacAndrews and OPDR effective January 1, 2018.,  in line with the Group’s strategy to develop its intra-regional activities Headquarters will be located in Hamburg. The union between these two companies specialized in intra-European transport enables the CMA CGM Group to strengthen its multimodal offer in Europe, particularly thanks to the complementarity of the geographical zones covered today by MacAndrews and OPDR, iCMA CGM said. MacAndrews will bring together the strengths of the two subsidiaries and will be characterized by: a presence in 16 countries, 36 agencies, 595 employees (310 OPDR / 285 MacAndrews) and 18 services. Acquired by CMA CGM in 2002, MacAndrews is the oldest shipping company in Europe.

68.1 million tonnes of cargo were transported between the seaport of Antwerp and Germany during 2016. This represents growth of approx. 4 million tonnes or 6.1 percent compared to the previous year. Thus Europe’s second-largest seaport is continuing its growth course as an important hub for German industry. While truck traffic rose by 4.3 percent in terms of tonnage, transportation by inland waterway vessel increased by 7.3 percent and railway transport services grew by as much as 8.3 percent. Although trucks continue to occupy the leading position within the modal split, they are losing shares in percentage terms to railway and inland waterway transports.

The core EBIT margin of 7.9% was once again significantly above peer averages. * Consolidated net profit group Share came to $156 million, up 66.7% on second-quarter 2014.

The CMA CGM Group announced that the European Commission has approved its acquisition of OPDR. In order to finalize the acquisition, which was announced on November 25, 2014 by Jacques R. Saadé, founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, the approval of Moroccan and European Union competition authorities was necessary. On June 29, the European Commission finalized the process by giving its approval without any conditions. OPDR is a sea carrier that was part of the Bernhard Schulte Group. It is specialized in short sea maritime services and door to door logistics solutions between North Europe, the Canary Islands, the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco.
