Number of Indian Seafarers Jump by 42.3%

The number of seafarers in India has seen an unprecedented growth of 42.3% due to various policy level changes brought in by the Government in the last four years, said a Minister in India.According to Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Chemical & Fertilizer, from 108,446 seafarers in 2013, India now has 154,349 seafarers. India now provides 9.35% of the global seafarers and ranks 3rd in the list of the largest seafarer supplying nations in the world.At present, there are 17 lakhs seafarers globally including the 154,349 Indian seafarers. Antwerp Port takes Roadshow to India

The port of Antwerp has planned a Roadshow in India as this country has generated a record 5 million tonnes of cargo in Antwerp in 2014. The roadshow has been programmed from 9 to 13 February 2015. With an annual freight volume of 199 million tonnes the port of Antwerp is the second-largest in Europe. Its central location in the heart of Europe makes it possible to serve a huge consumer market very quickly: an essential advantage for exporting countries that target the European consumer. To help convince such countries of the unique position occupied by Antwerp in the European port landscape, the Antwerp port community regularly organises missions abroad. The port of Antwerp has long been convinced of the economic growth potential of India.

Shantanu Bhadkamkar Takes Over As Chairman Of IFCBA

Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Immediate Past Chairman of Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations In India (FFFAI) was unanimously elected as Chairman of International Federation of Customs Brokers Association (IFCBA) at the Board of Directors Meeting of IFCBA held in Seoul, Korea recently. Bhadkamkar is the Managing Director (Group CEO) of ATC Group,a leading Customs Broker & International Freight Forwarder in India. Apart from being Chairman of IFCBA and Immediate Past Chairman of FFFAI, he is the Sr. Vice – President of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA, Vice –President of Association of Multimodal Transport Operators In India (AMTOI) and Immediate Past Chairman of Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
