South Wales maritime engineering company Mustang Marine has rebranded as Mainstay Marine Solutions. The Pembroke Dock based workboat, marine energy device and waterside infrastructure specialist has adopted a new name and corporate image following its first year under new ownership. The company, which was bought out of administration in May 2014 by a group of nine investors, said it has thrived under its new ownership and is on course to double its workforce compared to 12 months ago, increasing from 27 employees in June 2014 to 60 today.

Workboat and marine energy device builder Mustang Marine has won a $5.34m contract to construct three new pilot boats for the Port of Milford Haven. The Pembroke Dock-based company is now looking to recruit new workers locally in a number of skilled positions to meet an increased demand for its services, having already increased the size of its workforce to 54 people over the last nine months. The new contact will see Mustang build three 19m pilot boats at its deep-water facility at Pembroke Dock.

Despite a slow start to the year, Haven Marine Services reports it is now seeing a change in fortunes with two dockings for Svitzer in quick succession, with one vessel sailing after a refit and another in on the same tide. This comes after a prolonged period of inactivity at the yard during the last three months due to lack of orders and extremes of weather which resulted in several vessels having to be diverted to other repair facilities due to the fact that they were unable to enter Milford Docks.

Mustang Marine, which is under a new ownership and management structure after being bought out of administration in May 2014 by a group of nine investors, has completed a broad range of orders in what was a successful second half of 2014, the company reports. Now, the Pembroke Dock-based firm says it is actively recruiting skilled workers and apprentices to meet a busy work schedule going into the New Year. Mustang Marine has created 12 new jobs over the last six months, bringing the total workforce to 42 people.

ShipConstructor 2014 R2.1, released from SSI, has been specifically designed to rapidly respond to emerging trends in ship design and engineering as identified by SSI's new Client Council program, the company said. "Both technology and industry requirements are evolving quickly so our clients continually need to adapt," explained SSI CTO Denis Morais. "SSI's Client Council program has been designed to address this by having focus groups of similar clients propose new features that SSI can quickly incorporate into our software.

The new Supacat design was unveilled by Incat Crowther at the recent Seawork exhibition in Southampton, UK. The new vessel, designed to perform multiple Wind Farm and Offshore maintenance roles is currently under construction at Mustang Marine in Wales, due for completion in September 2013. Central to its design is its high-capacity, pillar-free cargo deck, which is flat from stem to stern. With cabin and hull accesses located outboard, the deck will be fitted with a set of container rails running the full length of the vessel.

Currently the trading name for Milford Haven Port Authority, MHSR, is to be rebranded under the Mustang Marine (Wales) Ltd name and will operate from the existing two sites, the dry dock facility at Milford Dock and the slipway facility adjacent to Mustang Marine in Pembroke Dock. Mustang Marine, is a boat builder and repairer of workboats, pilot boats, passenger and similar commercial vessels up to 40m in length. Established in 1984 by the Lewis family, the company has witnessed steady growth specifically in the last 5 years.

Cory Brothers has just completed a pilot boat manoeuvre from Pembrokeshire to Kenya for commercial boat builder Mustang Marine. The boat was loaded directly from water onto a OXL heavylift vessel with 300te lifting capacity. Cory logistics project managed the full spectrum of services for the client including heavylift vessel agency, customs documentation, warranty surveying, insurance and managing technical issues. Mike Bryant of Cory Logistics said: "We were delighted to successfully complete this project which was part of our expanding operations in Wales.

Incat Crowther is pleased to announce the launch and delivery of Humber Guardian, the first of three new coastal survey catamarans. UK’s Mustang Marine delivered Humber Guardian to Briggs Marine in August. The vessel will be deployed by Briggs Marine to support coastal survey operations for the Environment Agency of England and Wales.Incat Crowther worked with Mustang Marine and Briggs Marine to develop a practical, capable and rugged vessel.The vessel’s aft working aft deck features a 2-tonne A-Frame, Man-overboard davit and moon pool. A work bench is also fitted.
