MX Marine Introduces New GPS Products

MX Marine has unveiled a new family of marine GPS/DGPS products, which are designed to provide a flexible and expandable platform for the next generation of integrated navigation and marine information systems. The new MX500, MX510 and MX520 GPS control/display systems are being introduced by MX Marine to work with the MX521 smart antenna or MX525 black box receiver, providing a highly accurate integrated navigation solution that meets the latest international standards for GPS/DGPS, including Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM). The new-generation MX500, MX510 and MX520 are the first marine GPS systems to incorporate a common platform with the powerful Intel X-Scale 200 MHz processor with 16 MB Flash and 64 MB SDRAM memory, upgradeable to 400 MHz and 128 MB RAM.

At the Europort 2003 exhibition in Amsterdam last month, MX Marine debuted its new family of marine GPS/DGPS products, a family of products designed to provide a flexible and expandable platform for the next generation of integrated navigation and marine information systems. Navico to Buy BNT Marine Electronics

Navico International Ltd. agreed to acquire the marine electronics business of Brunswick New Technologies (BNT), a unit of Brunswick Corporation . Subject to regulatory approvals, this transaction, which is expected to close during March 2007, will create the world's largest supplier of marine electronics for recreational boats. Included in the agreement are the three brands MX Marine, Navman marine and Northstar. The combined businesses had revenues of USD 50 million in 2006 with primary operating facilities in New Zealand, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. MX Marine has a 30-year heritage in providing high precision navigation systems for commercial and government vessels.

Nor-Shipping Roundup: Stepping Out in Oslo

The Nor-Shipping Exhibition concluded June 6, 2003. Following were some of the major announcements during the week in Oslo. Kongsberg won a contract for the control systems for four LNG tankers scheduled to be built in Japan. The ships will carry LNG from the Snohvit field to the U.S., Spain and France. Two of the ships are being built for Hoegh shipping lines at Mitsubishi Shipyards, while the other two are being built at the Mitsui and Kawasaki shipyards. Kelvin Hughes was awarded type approval for its ECDIS-based Track Control System. This is the first Approval of its type to be granted by LR and covers the integration of the company's ECDIS and Autopilot products into a system meeting the new IEC 62065 track control performance standard.
