Yacht Building: NDSQ Delivers Superyacht Newbuilds

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) delivered its first two newbuilds of fast luxury superyachts. The two 71-meter highly-complex fast diving vessels (FDV), are the first superyacht-quality newbuilds constructed entirely at Qatar’s world-class Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, adapted from the Damen ‘Sea-Axe’ fast yacht support vessel.“NDSQ has been making strides in Qatar’s shipbuilding arena since its operations started in 2011, with successful deliveries of a variety of newbuild vessels to support operations at local ports and terminals,” said Nakilat CEO Eng.

Five Vessels Delivered for Qatar’s New Port Project

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has delivered five vessels as part of an 11-vessel order for New Port Project (NPP). Built entirely at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City, the vessels were launched and delivered to NPP after successful completion of their sea trials. Measuring 15.4 meters long with a beam of 5 meters and a speed of 25 knots, the two Damen Stan Pilot 1505 pilot boats Um Alhoul 1 and Um Alhoul 2 will be used to carry out pilot duties and the transportation of personnel.

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar JV is 5

On 23 November 2015, Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar celebrated its first 5 years of operation. With 40 vessels delivered or under construction, the yard has proven its capability to support Qatar’s national strategy for economic diversification. Damen Chief Commercial Officer Arnout Damen. NDSQ was established in 2010 as a joint venture between Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat) and Damen Shipyards Group. Located in the northeastern corner of Qatar, the yard is ideally positioned in the middle of the Arabian Gulf and able to build ships up to 170 metres in length in steel, aluminium and composites. By building these vessels in Qatar, Mr Damen says that NDSQ is supporting the economic diversification and development strategy in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Two Mooring Tugs Delivered to NSW

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has delivered two new Qatari-built mooring tugs to towage operator Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW). The delivery of the two ASD 2810 tugs is part of a seven-vessel order that the yard is currently working on for NSW. The first of the new tugs, named Umm Al Shubrum, completed sea trials in Ras Laffan in mid-January 2015. She was followed in February by the second vessel, Al Kharsaah. Both vessels will operate as part of Nakilat NSW’s growing fleet. NSW currently operates more than 30 vessels and performs 12,500 tug jobs per year.

Nakilat to Build 11 Tugs for New Doha Port

Qatar’s New Port Project (NPP) has signed an agreement with Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) to construct 11 workboats for use at the port. HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and HE Mr. Jassim Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, witnessed the signing ceremony between NDSQ and NPP, on Wednesday, 17th December 2014. The contracts were signed by Eng. Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, Chairman of NDSQ and Managing Director of Nakilat, and Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji CEO Qatar Ports Management Company & NPP General Supervisor. NDSQ will build four 29m-long Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tug boats, three 16m-long mooring boats and four15m-long glass reinforced plastic (GRP) pilot boats.

First Two Mooring Boats Launched for Port of Ras Laffan

Nakilat has celebrated the delivery of two 16-meter mooring boats built by shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar for towage operator Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller. The built-in-Qatar vessels will be operated at the Port of Ras Laffan. Nakilat Venture Gets Qatar Military Ship Order

Qatar Gas Transport Co (Nakilat) said on Tuesday that a joint venture between it and Dutch shipbuilder Damen had won orders worth 3.1 billion riyals ($850 million) to build seven vessels for the Qatari armed forces. The vessels to be built by Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar comprise six high-speed patrol ships and a diving support vessel. They will be built in Qatar, Nakilat said without giving a timeframe. Qatari Shipyard Delivers Tugboat in Large Milaha Contract

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) say they have delivered to Milaha the 32m-long tug 'Semesma', the eleventh vessel built in the State of Qatar by NDSQ to be utilized by Milaha at the Port of Mesaieed. Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has laid the keels for two 16m-long Stan Tugs, part of a seven-vessel order for marine services provider Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller (NSW). A small ceremony to mark this important step in the shipbuilding process was held at NDSQ’s facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar’s Port of RasLaffan. The two twin-screw Stan Tugs have a bollard pull of 15 tons and will be used for mooring vessels visiting the Port of RasLaffan.

Qatar Shipyard, Nakilat, JV's Get US$160-million Funding

Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) QSC has provided financing for the two Nakilat shipyard joint ventures: Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) for US $120m and US $40m respectively. Nakilat is a Qatari marine transport company providing the essential transportation link in the State of Qatar’s LNG supply chain. The company says its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 56 LNG vessels. Nakilat also manages and operates four large LPG carriers.

N-DSQ to Construct Qatar Naval Patrol Boats

Nakilat – Damen Shipyards Qatar (N-DSQ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) for the construction and delivery of six Naval Patrol Boats at Nakilat’s shipbuilding facilities in the Port of Ras Laffan, Qatar. The military vessels will be used by the QENF to support its existing operations in the monitoring and surveillance of Qatar’s Economic Exclusive Zone, for coastal and offshore patrolling, search and seizure operations, and for anti piracy/hijacking operations.

Provision of Harbor Tugs, Port of Mesaieed

Nakilat, on behalf of Nakilat–Damen Shipyards Qatar (N-DSQ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar Petroleum for the provision of 19 vessels including harbor tugs, pilot and service boats at the port of Mesaieed. On October 15 2009, Qatar Petroleum’s Directorate, Mesaieed Industrial City, issued a tender for the provision of harbor tugs, pilot and service boats at Mesaieed Port. Subject to the outcome of the tender, the successful bidder will be obliged to build all the vessels required for the contract at the N-DSQ facilities at the Port of Ras Laffan.
