Axpo Orders LNG Bunkering Vessel Capable of Ship-To-Truck Operations

Italian energy company Axpo has signed a 10-year deal to charter an LNG bunkering vessel which is expected to begin operations in 2025.The agreement has been signed with Italy’s Gas and Heat SpA and the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard. The vessel will be built in the San Giorgio’s shipyard in Piombino, Italy, and will have a capacity of up to 7,500 cubic metres. In the future, the ship could also transport bio-LNG and ammonia. Active off the coast of Naples, the vessel will provide ship-to-ship bunkering as well as ship-to-truck transfer of LNG to tanker trucks onshore…

Next Geosolutions Surveys Roman Ports

Next Geosolutions, an independent geoscience and engineering service provider, has secured a €1.25million (£1million) mapping and survey contract with Naples Port Authority for the Archaeological Sites Mapping Project, based in the Port of Naples. The project, which commenced in July and is due for completion by December 2016, will see Next Geosolutions carry out marine survey techniques including high-resolution bathymetry, morphology, shallow geology and magnetometric surveys of the Port’s internal waters. 650 Ton Crane for Naples Port

In order to avoid traffic problems Naples port's new maxi-crane arrived by night. The new crane destined for Cantieri del Mediterraneo Spa can lift 650 tons on an arm which can be adjusted from 60 metres to 96 metres. The crane is semi-mobile on 22 enormous wheels and cost euro 2,8 million. There are only two such cranes in Italy. Luigi Salvatori head of Cantieri del Mediterraneo stated " the Port Authority is increasingly attentive towards Naples' ship yards. We with the practicality which we have always demonstrated are playing our part. We planned investment of euro 23 million for modernisation and in the past 5 years we have spent euro 8.8 million with a further euro 7.5 million in progress ". For example ? " we have 4 dry docks, three structures and one floating.

Costa Crociere Chooses Naples

The ceremony to inaugurate Costa Crociere’s new flagship will be held on 7th June 2003, staged by Valerio Festi and listed in the “Monumental May” calendar of events. Naples, November 7, 2002. Naples, renowned as an artistic and seafaring city, has been chosen to host the christening ceremony for the Costa Mediterranea, Costa Crociere’s new flagship under construction in the Kvaerner Masa Yards in Helsinki. The event will take place next year on 7th June. The news was announced on board her sister ship, Costa Atlantica, by the Chairman of the company, Pier Luigi Foschi, before an audience that included the Mayor of Naples, the Honourable Rosa Russo Iervolino, and the Chairman of the Port Authority, Senator Francesco Nerli.
