NAMS Announces Fall Conference Dates

The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) announced the dates for its 2022 New England Fall Conference in Newport, R.I. and North 2022 Pacific Fall Conference in Bremerton, Wash.The New England Fall Conference, to be held October 27 and 28, 2022, will include a roundtable and reception at the IYRS School of Technology & Trades. IYRS is a non-profit, post-secondary experiential learning institution and is the premier marine trades and modern manufacturing school in the United States. Companies, lenders, and their auditors worldwide need vessel appraisals that can be relied upon when put into legal documents. As the offshore energy support markets awaken, this is more important now, than ever.While a great deal of shipping finance is done at a 10,000' level, with bond deals and equity swaps, the value of the assets found on ground level are still very important. There are taxation issues, insured value, public reporting, and allocation of purchase price, where the value of individual vessels is important.

ASNE Tug & Salvage Technology Symposium

The American Society of Naval Engineers will host a Tug & Salvage Technology Symposium on January 29-30, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza National Airport Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The symposium will provide a forum for discussion about current and developing tug and salvage technologies and the possibility of combining the designs of tug boats and salvage ships to create a new, integrated vessel that has the capabilities of both. The U.S. Department of the Navy has identified a need to recapitalize its fleet of tug and salvage ships. The Navy staff and the Navy’s Military Sealift Command believe that commercial platforms currently in design or under construction by industry can address Navy requirements and afford the opportunity to leverage commercial technologies in hull forms…

ASA and SCAA Establish Affiliate Relationship

The American Salvage Association (ASA) and the Spill Control Association of America (SCAA) have established an Affiliate Membership relationship. The Spill Control Association of America was organized in 1973 to actively promote the interests of all groups within the spill response community. The organization represents spill response contractors, manufacturers, distributors, consultants, instructors, government & training institutions and corporations working in the industry. The American Salvage Association is the trade association promoting professionalism and improving marine casualty response in North American coastal and inland waters. ASA has partnership agreements with the U.S.

ASA and OMSA Establish Affiliate Membership

The American Salvage Association (ASA) and the Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) have agreed to establish a reciprocal Affiliate Membership relationship. The Offshore Marine Service Association represents more than 250 member companies, including about 100 firms that own and operate marine service vessels. These vessels, some 1,200 in number, connect America with its offshore energy resources, providing every pipe, wrench, computer, barrel of fuel, and gallon of drinking water to rigs and platforms, as well as transporting tens of thousands of workers to and from the facilities. This critical flow of supplies keeps the heart of America's energy industry pumping around the clock.

NAMS to Feature Safety, Security Topics

Marine surveyors and related professionals serving yacht and small craft, hull and machinery, and cargo industries will gather September 28-30 in Vancouver, BC, at The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) holds its 35th Annual National Marine Conference West.
