Bahri Reports 2012 Annual Profits Up
Bahri announce the Interim Consolidated Financial Results for the 12-month period ended 31st December, 2012. The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) report that Net profit, for the 12-months totaled SAR 500.4 million compared to SAR 287.7 million for the corresponding period for the year 2011, an increase of 74 %. However, Net profit, for the fourth quarter was down and totaled SAR 73 million compared to SAR 113.3 million for the corresponding quarter for the year 2011, a decrease of 35.6%. Tankship Contract Cancelled by Bahri
Bahri subsidiary, National Chemical Carriers Ltd., cancels contract for chemical tanker (NCC Bader) due to the delay in terms of delivery. Co. has decided to cancel a shipbuilding contract for the chemical tanker (NCC Bader) due to the delay in delivery beyond the agreed date in the shipbuilding contract. Saudi Owners Receive New Chemical Tanker
National Chemical Carriers receive new chemical tanker 'NCC Najeem' from the SHINAsb Shipyard in S. Korea. National Chemical Carriers Ltd. Co. (NCC) of Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (BAHRI) announce it has received in Korea a new chemical tanker named "NCC Najem" from SHINAsb (previously SLS) of South Korea, as part of nine vessels previously contracted by NCC from this yard during 2006 - 2007. The vessel will be commercially operated by "NCC ODFJELL Chemical Tankers JLT", located in Dubai and owned jointly by NCC and ODFJELL SE of Norway, which commenced operation in January 2010. Odfjell Charters from Nat’l Chemical Carriers
Effective 1 February, Odfjell has entered into an agreement with its Saudi-Arabian partner National Chemical Carriers Ltd. Co (NCC) to bare-boat charter their three 37,000 stainless steel parcel tankers for ten years with purchase options after three years. The three ships are NCC Jubail (1996), NCC Mekka (1995) and NCC Riyad (1995). The ships will continue to be operated by Odfjell Tankers in global trades. Odfjell Ship Management will continue to be responsible for crewing and technical management, and the ships will remain in the Norwegian International Ship Register. Furthermore, Odfjell has entered into three to six years time-charters for three ships that until recently were owned by National Chemical Carriers Ltd. Co.
Odfjell Reports on Accident Onboard M/T NCC MEKKA
Odfjell has confirmed that second injured crewmember passed away last night. Since the accident onboard M/T NCC MEKKA he has been under intensive medical treatment at a specialist hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A Maritime Enquiry was held on board M/T NCC MEKKA on June 9 while the ship was at anchor in Rio de Janeiro. The Enquiry was administered by the Norwegian General Consul in Brazil and attended by Maritime Investigator John Ramsoy from the Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) and Odfjell's Risk Manager, Capt. Toralf Sorenes. Several witnesses were heard during the Enquiry and a survey of the area of the explosion was also carried out.
M/T NCC Madinah Collision Update
OnJuly 5, the M/T NCC Madinah, a chemical tanker operated by Norwegian ship managers Odfjell ASA, was involved in a collision with an Indonesian tanker, the M/T MR-I, at the port of Gresik, Surabaya, Indonesia. Both ships had local harbour pilots onboard. Although both ships were damaged during the accident, there was no pollution. Tragically, however, one person onboard MR-I is missing and three others were injured as a result of the collision. Odfjell are conducting a full and urgent investigation into the circumstances of the accident, which took place in the busy entrance channel to the port. Meanwhile, yesterday the Court of Maritime Affairs at Surabaya issued their initial opinion on the collision, based on the local authorities' preliminary examination of the incident.
