Kings Point Student Earns NMRA Scholarship
The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) recently awarded its second $500 scholarship to a student pursuing education in the marine industry and maritime trades. Jacqueline Weymann, of Kings Point, New York, was honored in a presentation made by NMRA past president Norm MacLeod, ComMar Sales vice-president. Originally from San Diego, California, Midshipman Weymann is a student at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and is pursuing a bachelor's of science degree in intermodal transportation and logistics. Her expected graduation date is June 2015.
NMRA Awards Scholarship to Yacht Design Students
The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) awarded two scholarships to students pursuing careers in the field. Noah Luff of Ventura, California is one of the recipients of the association's $500 scholarship. Keith LaMarr and Chris Martorana of Macaroni Marketing made the presentation. In Fall 2014, Luff will attend California Maritime Academy and study marine transportation. Growing up in a coastal town, he's also served as an ocean lifeguard and plans to become an active member of the maritime industry once he graduates in 2018.
NMRA Extends 2014 Scholarship Opportunities
The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) is offering scholarships to students pursuing education and training in the maritime trades. Interested high school seniors and college students can request an application from NMRA at [email protected]. NMRA will award two $500 scholarships to outstanding students seeking careers in marine-related fields. Applications are due on May 1, 2014, and winners will be announced in the summer. High schools, colleges and trade schools wishing to promote this resource with their students can contact NMRA for more information.
NMRA Officers Elected
The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) has elected its 2011-2012 officers and board members. One new officer and three new board members are joining the association's leadership group. Chris Kelly of Waters & David Co., New Orleans, Louisiana, is now president. Kathy Munzinger of Munzinger & Co., Springfield, Missouri, has been elected vice president and Ken Smaga of ComMar Sales LLC, Land O' Lakes, Florida, is now treasurer. Brandon Flack of Atlantic Marketing Co., Stonington, Connecticut, joins the officers as NMRA's new secretary.
