Australia's Wheatstone liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, after starting production earlier this month, has shipped its first export cargo to a buyer in Japan, majority owner and operator Chevron Corp said on Tuesday. Wheatstone is the sixth out of eight projects in a $200 billion Australian LNG construction boom that is now in its final stretch. The two remaining project due to for start-up are Royal Dutch Shell's Prelude floating LNG project and Ichthys, led by Japan's Inpex.

The global market for anchor handling tug supply vessels is poised for growth from 2016-2020, according to a report by Research and Markets. In the report, which covers the present scenario and the growth prospects market based on total revenue generated from the different geographical regions, analysts forecast the global market for anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.88 percent during the period 2016-2020. “One trend which is boosting market growth is the rise in subsea vessel operations,” said an analyst from the research team.

The Canadian government has approved TransCanada Corp's proposed C$1.7 billion ($1.38 billion) North Montney Mainline natural gas pipeline that would connect natural gas fields in northern British Columbia with a Pacific Coast export terminal. The North Montney line would feed into a second new pipeline, the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission line, that would serve an $11 billion liquefied natural gas export terminal, called the Pacific NorthWest LNG project, proposed by state-owned Malaysian energy company Petronas. The meeting in Cairo between Anastasiades, Egyptian President Abdelfattah al-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras demonstrated deepening ties between the three states, who are challenging Turkey's efforts to chart gas deposits in areas of the east Mediterrean claimed by Cyprus. The emerging alliance fits Egypt's interests well. TSC will provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the FLNG facility Shell will deploy at its Prelude gas field off the northwest coast of Australia. Moored far out at sea, some 200 kilometres from the nearest land, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce gas from offshore fields and liquefy it onboard by cooling.

Norway's Statoil has ordered the construction of an LNG barge from IZAR Fene Shipyard to serve as support for a gas liquefaction plant. The LNG barge, scheduled to be completed in August 2003, will house on its deck about 24,000 tons of processing equipment for the plant, which will convert natural gas from the Snøhvit field into liquefied natural gas (LNG). About 70 cargoes of LNG per year will be shipped out from this floating plant. The barge will be 505 ft. long, 177 ft. wide and 30 ft. high. It will have a net 8,500 tonne weight of steel.
