Wärtsilä Forms New Biofuel Arm

Finnish shipping technology group Wartsila has merged its Puregas Solutions and biogas liquefaction teams to form a new Biogas Solutions unit that will offer its customers a ‘one-stop-shop service’ for advanced biofuel production.Wärtsilä Biogas Solutions, a unit with expert capabilities in liquefying upgraded biogas for end-customer use, offers products for biogas upgrading to biomethane, and the liquefaction of biomethane into bioLNG."Currently, our market share in this field is almost 60 percent, and we expect this to continue to grow as we further develop our capabilities,” says Arne Jakobsen, General Manager, Wärtsilä Biogas Solutions.Wärtsilä has earlier provided the turnkey installation for the world’s largest bioLNG facility located in Skogn…

Stolt-Nielsen Orders Small LNG Carriers

Stolt-Nielsen Limited subsidiary Stolt-Nielsen Gas B.V. (SNG) has contracted with Keppel Singmarine for the construction of two 7,500 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, with options to purchase three additional similar ships. The ships are to be built at Keppel Singmarine's shipyard in Nantong, China, with deliveries scheduled in the second and third quarter of 2019 respectively. The contract for the initial two ships is valued at approximately $80 million, including site-team costs and capitalized interest during construction. The ships will be capable of operating on either diesel fuel or LNG, with a class notation and technical capability for STS (ship-to-ship) bunkering, thus significantly enhancing their versatility.

Flogas Britain and Stolt-Nielsen announce LNG project for Rosyth

Flogas Britain, the UK’s leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider, and Stolt-Nielsen LNG Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen Limited (Oslo Børs: SNI), a leading global provider of bulk liquid transportation and storage solutions, announced a joint project to explore bringing LNG to areas of Scotland not served by the existing natural-gas grid. The initiative is a step towards reducing the cost of energy for homes and businesses located off the national gas network. LNG will be shipped by Stolt-Nielsen LNG via small-scale LNG carriers and stored in bulk at the Port of Rosyth, before being distributed by Flogas across Scotland by road tanker, mainly to industrial customers. At present, Scotland’s off-grid natural gas is delivered by road tanker from Kent, South East England.

Opening of Argentina's Second LNG Import Facility

With President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner present to honor the opening of Argentina's second LNG import facility, a joint development between YPF S.A., ENARSA and excelerate Energy, GNL Escobar (GNLE) was officially open for business on June 8, 2011. Located on the Parana River, about 30 miles outside Buenos Aires City, GNLE utilizes Excelerate Energy's GasPort design. As well as providing increased peak capacity for the high-demand winter months, the facility delivers additional natural gas supply and transport capacity to the Buenos Aires region.
