Mitsui, Sempra Energy Sign LNG Deal
North American energy infrastructure company Sempra Energy and Japanese trader Mitsui & Co. have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which the latter would take part in the Cameron LNG Phase 2 project in Louisiana.The MoU also encompasses a future expansion of the Energía Costa Azul (ECA) LNG project in Baja California, Mexico."This agreement signals continued momentum in the growing U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export market, while reinforcing the unique competitive advantage that Sempra offers customers seeking LNG export capabilities from the Gulf Coast, as well as the West Coast of North America," said Justin Bird, president of Sempra LNG.
Cameron LNG Begins Commercial Service
North American energy infrastructure company Sempra Energy said that the first train of the Cameron liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction export project in Louisiana has started commercial operations under Cameron's tolling agreements.Train 1 is part of Phase 1 of the Cameron LNG liquefaction export project which includes a projected export capacity of 12M metric tons/year of liquefied natural gas, or 1.7B cf/day of natural gas."This is an exciting moment for Cameron LNG and for Sempra Energy," said Carlos Ruiz Sacristan, chairman and CEO of Sempra North American Infrastructure. DOE Approves Port Arthur LNG Project
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the signing of a long-term order authorizing the export of domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Sempra Energy’s Port Arthur LNG export project to be built in Port Arthur, Texas. The U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry signed the authorization allowing Port Arthur LNG to export approximately 13.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG to countries that do not have a free-trade agreement (FTA) with the U.S. during the first U.S.-EU Energy Council High-Level Energy Forum in Brussels, Belgium."I am pleased to announce the order signed today authorizing Port Arthur LNG to export up to 1.91 billion cubic feet per day of LNG, to any country that does not have an FTA with the United States," said Perry.
Cheniere, Malaysia's Petronas Sign 20-Year LNG Pact
Houston-based Cheniere Energy Partners has signed a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with a subsidiary of Petronas, Malaysia's state-owned oil and natural gas company.Per long-term pact, Petronas agreed to buy about 1.1 million tons a year from the Sabine Pass facility, according to a statement Tuesday. Wison Enters North American LNG Agreement
Shanghai-based Wison Offshore & Marine Ltd., a subsidiary of the Wison Group, announced agreement with EDF Trading and Exmar NV to support their collective endeavors to pursue LNG export opportunities in North America using offshore, barge-mounted natural gas liquefaction facilities developed by Exmar, Wison and Black & Veatch. Under the agreement, Wison would be responsible for the turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services for the mobile, self-contained units that would be capable of tying in to existing pipeline, tank and jetty infrastructure to enable LNG export. These plants will utilize topside liquefaction equipment and packages designed by Black & Veatch using its proven PRICO single mixed refrigerant technology.
