Wärtsilä to Supply Navigation Systems for 10 Arctic LNG Carriers

Wärtsilä Voyage has signed a contract to deliver radio and integrated navigation systems for 10 icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be constructed for the Arctic LNG-2 project.The order was placed in January 2021 and is now in process of execution, in partnership with South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd shipyard. The new contract is an extension of the announcement made last summer, where Wärtsilä Voyage equipped five LNG carriers with integrated bridge systems under the same project.

Transas to Promote Fleet Efficiency for Wilson Ship Management

Transas said it booked an order in Q1 2018 with the Norway-based fleet operator Wilson ASA to supply a Fleet Operations Solution (FOS) including onboard navigational and communication components to provide enhanced connectivity for business communications and crew services, and access to fleet data from shore-based locations for complete situational awareness.For Transas, which was acquired by Wärtsilä in May 2018, the contract marks one of the first applications of the Thesis concept within Wärtsilä’s Smart Marine Ecosystem vision, which uses high levels of connectivity and digitalization.

Transas ECDIS Earns DNV-GL Certification

DNV-GL has issued an official certificate for the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS after Transas passed type-approval in November 2015. The new generation of the Transas ECDIS is the first sytem in the market certified by DNV-GL according to the latest IHO and IEC standards. New IHO editions of S-52 and S-64 and new ECDIS testing specification IEC 61174 entered into force in August 2015 and require all vessels to be updated with the new software within the deadline which is currently set as September 2016.

Transas ECDIS Passes New IHO & IEC Standards

Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS has passed all DNV-GL tests according to the new IHO & IEC standards. The new generation of the Transas ECDIS complies with the latest requirements and provides a number of features beyond this. The production of the new Transas system will start in January with deliveries from February 1, 2016. New IHO editions of S-52 and S-64 and new ECDIS testing specification IEC 61174 entered into force in August 2015. The new standards are intended to overcome shortcomings, ECDIS anomalies and safety critical issues identified by all stakeholders including IMO, IEC and IHO, and will affect new installations and previously installed ECDIS. Normally new standards would not affect installed systems, but in this particular case the “Grandfather Clause” is overruled.

Transas e-Logbook Gets Panama Flag Approval

The Panama Marine Authority has confirmed the Transas Electronic Logbook as equivalent to the paper version for use on board the ships registered under the Panamanian Flag. Successful approval of the Transas e-Logbook by the largest shipping flag state is an important milestone in executing company's strategy to develop and deliver high-quality reliable e-Navigation products to its customers. The Transas Electronic Logbook (e-Logbook) is designed to replace traditional paper logbook and to record all data in full detail with a minimum input from a user. It is available as a software option for all users of the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS, the most popular ECDIS system among seafarers, and enables automated reporting.

Korean Registry Okays Transas ECDIS

Transas, one of the world's leading providers of integrated navigation solutions, received ECDIS type-approval from the Korean Registry (Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute), making Transas one of a few companies holding an ECDIS certificate from the South Korean maritime authority. The certificate issued by the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute proves the system's compliance with all ECDIS-related regulations valid for the South Korean Flag state and covers not only Navi-Sailor ECDIS in Premium and Standard configurations, but also all Transas supplementary components for usability benefits and system integration. All tests were successfully passed within one week at the certified Transas R&D facilities.

Maersk to Install Transas ECDIS on 100 Vessels

Maersk Line, the world's largest container company, has selected Transas Marine for ECDIS implementation on more than 100 vessels, Transas announced today. The contract features the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS 4000 in dual configuration plus a back-up station on each vessel. ECDIS to be Installed on 100 plus Maersk Vessels

Maersk Line selected Transas Marine for  ECDIS implementation on  more than 100 vessels. The contract features Transas state-of-the-art Navi-Sailor ECDIS 4000 in dual configuration plus a back-up station on each vessel. According to the agreement signed between Maersk Line and Transas Marine, existing systems will be upgraded to the latest version of the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display with 2 ECDIS stations plus a back-up installed on each vessel, making all vessels ready for paperless operation. The installations are planned to start in summer of 2015. Transas Installs ECDIS Simulators at Romanian University

Transas Marine has installed the ECDIS simulator class at the Constanța Maritime University (CMU), one of the first maritime schools in Romania to launch simulator-based courses to train bridge watchkeeping officers and other personnel in safe and efficient use of ECDIS in full compliance with the STCW 2010. The newly installed simulator is based on the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display MFD 4000 with inbuilt Navi-Planner voyage planning software, both fully compliant with the latest performance standards for shipborne navigation equipment.

Transas ECDIS Chosen by Maersk Tankers Again

The IMO requirement has phased installation of ECDIS on board all ships, beginning July 2012. Maersk Tankers, one of the world’s largest product tanker companies, has selected Transas to address this by implementing ECDIS compliance program across the Maersk Tankers’ fleet. Weather Data Integrated for Transas FleetView Online

Transas Marine announced that it has integrated MeteoGroup weather data in its FleetView Online SSAS-tracking software. With this integration Transas will have one global weather data supplier across the company’s navigation product range. Utilization of weather service from the MeteoGroup in the FleetView Online (FVO) is a key advantage to Transas customers, the company said. FleetView Online weather interface provides current and five-day forecasted weather data over the entire chart folio, displaying sea conditions such as wind, waves and swell, current and other weather elements.

ULTRAGAS Chooses Transas ECDIS Solutions

ECDIS manufacturer Transas Marine was awarded a contract for the supply of Dual ECDIS to ULTRAGAS, an ULTRANAV company and owner and operator of highly specialized vessels for transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) and petro-chemical gases with years of experience in this demanding segment of shipping. As a part of the contract, ULTRAGAS has ordered Dual Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display (MFD) sets with Radar overlay for installation on board of five additional vessels.

PRONAUTAS Installs Transas Dual ECDIS on Jan De Nul Vessels

PRONAUTAS and Jan De Nul Group have announced a new partnership to roll out an ECDIS implementation program on board Jan De Nul vessels. PRONAUTAS will deliver and install Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS in Premium configuration with radar overlay. Jan De Nul Group operates a modern and diverse dredging fleet. The fleet includes a number of powerful self-propelled cutter suction dredgers and largest trailing suction hopper dredgers in the world. Jan De Nul’s decision to select PRONAUTAS as a supplier of ECDIS was based on value for money.

Massive Italian Shipborne Navigation Contract for Transas

Transas Marine has won the Italian tender of "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" for supply of navigation equipment for 64 vessels. "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" is the Italian Shipowners Research Consortium which consists of 6 shipowners (Augusta Due, Marnavi, L.G.R. di Navigazione, Gestioni Armatoriali, Elbana di Navigazione, Perseveranza). According to the contract, Transas dual Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS Premium systems will be installed onboard of 64 oil/chemical tanker and bulk carrier vessel.

Transas ECDIS and Chart Service for Hellenic Carriers

Transas Hellas will supply ECDIS and Official Charts to Hellenic Carriers Corporation S.A. according to agreement recently signed between two companies. Hellenic Carriers Corporation’s fleet will be equipped with the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS in premium configuration and Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service. All vessels will shift to paperless navigation immediately after installation is completed. The first two new built vessels have been already commissioned and now sail on the Transas ECDIS.

Transas Upgrades Bulgarian Naval Training Center

An official opening of the upgraded training complex equipped with the Transas state-of-the-art simulators for N.Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy took place on September, 30. Numerous high-rank officials attended the ceremony, dedicated to the start of a new academic year. Among them was Mr. Rosen Plevenliev, the president of Bulgaria and the supreme commander of the armed forces, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, the deputy minister of defense, and many others. International representatives of Italian and USA Navies also took part in the ceremony.

Transas Provides ECDIS for Nonprofit Vessel

Transas Marine will supply and install its Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display for the nonprofit GBA Ships e.V.’s service vessel Logos Hope, a deal in part financed by donation from the Transas Marine. GBA Ships is a private, nonprofit entity registered in Germany, which operates ships that sail around the world to bring knowledge, help and hope. GBA pioneered the concept of using ships to transport literature, humanitarian aid and people resources. The company's history goes back to 1970 when the first ship Logos was launched.

Transas Marine Selected as ECDIS Supplier

Transas Marine has received an order to supply its Navi-Sailor ECDIS systems to the Swedish Armed Forces. After an extensive evaluation, the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) has selected Transas to implement ECDIS on board of eight Swedish Armed Forces vessels. The project is the first in the series to implement ECDIS across the Swedish Navy fleet. Transas will supply Dual Navi-Sailor 4100 ECDIS with Radar overlay, including full project management, integrated logistics support and system safety process implementation. The equipment will be installed on 5 school ships and 3 hoovercrafts. School Vessels are used to train officers in navigation. The crew consists of 10 people. The vessels are 26 meters long and 6 meters wide.

EDCIS Order: Transas to Supply Twenty-Eight Ships

Transas Marine Denmark contracted by A/S to supply & install 28 Navi-Sailor 4000 Multifunction Display Dual ECDIS units. Transas is also to upgrade another six Eitzen Chemical vessels to the latest hardware and software ECDIS standards over the next two years. The package for each vessel includes 2 x 26" Hatteland monitors, RS6B computers, radar overlay and Firewall enabling a direct connection between the vessel's satellite communication equipment and the Transas ECDIS. After the installations, all vessels will run the unique "Pay As You Sail" chart concept from Transas.

TORM chooses Transas Marine Dual ECDIS

TORM has chosen Transas Marine as an ECDIS supplier for five of its vessels. Navi-Sailor 4000 Dual ECDIS will be installed on five L-Class Tankers. Along with this, Transas Marine will supply and install 1 x ‘Back of the Bridge’ station on each of the five vessels, and the vessels will thereby obtain 3 x fully operational ECDIS stations. Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS ‘Back of the Bridge’ planning station is based on the 24’’ Panel PC. It includes Navi-Planner with full voyage plan functionality and ECDIS Software. Installation has been completed on the vessel “TORM LOUISE”, and remaining 4 vessels will be equipped in the following months. In addition, Transas Marine has upgraded eight other TORM vessels to the latest hard- and software versions.

Fourth Online ECDIS Familiarization Course Released

Following the release of the third online course, Hamburg-based online training specialist, Safebridge, has now released its ECDIS familiarization training package for the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000. Using the Navi-Sailor software running in real time, the content follows the requirements set by the various Flag States and provides 16-18 hours of study followed by an online test. A manufacturer-approved certificate is delivered immediately and automatically upon successful test completion. A completed IMO 1.27 generic training is a pre-requisite to the Safebridge online ECDIS familiarization training. At 185 Euros for a single log-in, the Safebridge training represents a cost-effective and highly flexible alternative to classroom training…

ECDIS Workbook from Transas Marine

In response to the growing demand in ECDIS Training and in order to contribute to the knowledge improvement on ECDIS use, Transas Marine has published an ECDIS Workbook which can be used together with the Transas ECDIS demo software, both available for free download from the company’s website. According to the STCW 2010 Code, ECDIS training is mandatory for all Deck officers serving on board ships fitted with ECDIS equipment. The main goal of the ECDIS Demo Workbook is to provide the vessel’s crew with knowledge, understanding and proficiency in the use of Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS and Chart Assistant Utility. The workbook is designated for nautical officers and other persons in charge of navigational tasks, and consists of theoretical and practice parts.

Navigazione Montanari signs Transas TRANSERV agreement

Transas Marine and Navigazione Montanari have signed a TRANSERV agreement for 11 vessels. Nine vessels are already equipped with Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 Dual ECDIS and Transas Admiralty Data Service TADS (Official SENC), and sail paperless. 2 more vessels will be fitted with Navi-Sailor ECDIS and TADS in spring 2013. TRANSERV is a Support and Maintenance program from Transas Marine that includes 24/7 service coordination, charts ordering, software updates and preventive maintenance. With TRANSERV, navigation systems onboard of Navigazione Montanari vessels will be always up-to-date, compliant with the latest standards and rules, support changes in chart format and will ensure easy interface to other bridge systems.
