NSB Invests in New Simulator

NSB GROUP will work with Wärtsilä on the technical upgrade of the simulator of its NSBacademy. Since 2007 NSB is training Nautical Officers in its own Maritime Training Center. The retrofit for the technical update began in June and is expected to last three months.The NSBacademy has two ship‐handling simulators with a field of view of 270° and 180° respectively. Wärtsilä Sim Software for Dutch Training

Software solutions from Wärtsilä have been selected for installation in three maritime training centers in The Netherlands.The turnkey systems is designed to allow training to commence immediately following the site acceptance. The systems have been ordered by the Rotterdam based STC Group, an international maritime transport and logistics education provider. Simulation Complex for Paraguay Waterway Training

The Transas navigational simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 was installed at the Center for Maritime and River Shipowners (CAFyM) in Asuncion for training crews in tugs operations in the Parana-Paraguay Waterway. The project was carried out in conjunction with VTG S.R.L., the Transas' local representative, which is covering commercial and technical needs of the Paraguayan market for all Transas products. The NTPRO version 5.35 installed at the CAFyM center is an excellent training solution due to its new capabilities for operation with different types of boats and barges in river waters.

New Simulation Complex for Dunkirk Pilot Station

Transas informs it has installed the fifth simulator for high-level training for pilots who operate in the port of Dunkirk in France. The pilot station is now equipped with the latest generation of the Transas navigational simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 5000, which capabilities allow to steer any kind of ship in combination with any propulsion and steering system available on the market, Transas said. The compact simulator version was particularly adapted to the Dunkirk station's budget and training objectives.

Transas Develops Simulators for Korea Coast Guard

Transas Marine, in collaboration with local agent Mecys, announced the completion of a complex simulator project for the Korea Coast Guard Academy (KCGA). The real hardware integration and achieved level of realism make this simulator complex truly unique. Transas Simulators for Girne American University

Transas has completed a project to supply the navigational and GMDSS simulators to Girne American University (GAU), a high school in Northern Cyprus. The configuration includes two navigational bridges based on the latest Transas Navi-Trainer Professional (NTPRO) software. The main bridge with five projector visualization channels is equipped with reduced set of dedicated hardware controls. It will enable training in various shiphandling operations including bridge team management. Secondary bridge with one visualization channel will be used for familiarization and basic tasks.

Transas Hellas Selected by COSMOS Training Center

Transas Hellas and COSMOS Nautical Training Center (Greece) has signed an agreement for supply and installation of Dynamic Positioning simulators. Under the contract, COSMOS NTC, Transas Global ECDIS Training Network (GET-Net) Partner, will gain  Transas Class B and Class C DP simulators. The simulators will expand the existing Transas Full Mission Bridge and the Mini Bridge Simulators, which will be upgraded to the latest Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 software. Adding a DP2 station with MT controls will make it possible to use the Full Mission Bridge as a DP simulator Class B.

Transas Holds Most Advanced Certificates

On December 18, 2012 Det Norske Veritas (Norway) issued statement of compliance for the Transas navigational and DP simulators. As a result, the Transas Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 holds the most advanced certificates set in the maritime simulator industry; it has been certified as a Bridge Operation Simulator Class A with class notation “Integrated simulator system, NAUT AW (SIM), DYNPOS – AUT (SIM), HSC, TUG, ICE, AHTS” and Dynamic Positioning Simulator Class A as per the latest edition of Standard for Certification of Maritime Simulators No. 2.14 January 2011. Transas is the first manufacturer to acquire DNV approval of an anchor-handling operations module according to the latest standard.

Batumi State Maritime Academy Upgrades its Simulator Complex

Batumi, Georgia. Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) upgraded its training facility with the latest simulators from Transas. The main goals of establishing this advanced training facility is to educate qualified specialists who will join the maritime commercial fleet and maritime transport infrastructure; and provide a learning process that adheres to modern requirements and educational programs, which will help students to receive the knowledge and professional skills necessary for their profession. Batumi, in the Autonomous Repuplic of Georgia, upgrades simulators at its nautical training facility. The project included installation of a full mission engine room simulator ERS 5000 that simulates MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Diesel Engine Product Tanker Ship Model. The system is integrated with existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and provides for joint training of engine room and bridge teams. The simulator replicates the operation of product tanker machinery, bridge and power systems which will enable BSMA to train marine technicians in realistic situations, without risk to people or vessels.

Transas Offshore and Dynamic Positioning Simulator Installed

A Transas Offshore and Dynamic Positioning simulator has been installed at PanArab E-Navigation (PAEN) in Alexandria, Egypt. PanArab E-Nav is a player in the marine and offshore training in the entire region. Transas Offshore and DP training solution is based on  the navigational simulator platform Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 (Transas NTPRO 5000). The installation consists of an Offshore bridge, reproducing a modern Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel bridge. It includes key elements such as NAVIS DP2 system, Transas Multifunctional Display, physical controls for all thrusters, winches, pins and shark jaws system together with a state-of-the-art Seagull 6000 visual system. The simulator complies with the requirements identified for the offshore training.

Transas Simulators for Intership Navigation

Transas Marine, Hamburg (Germany), has been awarded the contract for two simulation systems that will be delivered and installed onboard two ships operated and owned by shipping company Intership Navigation Co. Ltd. (ISN). The K Class Capesize Bulk Carriers MV Lancelot and MV Percival with a capacity of 178.000 dwt each are currently being built at New Times Shipyard in Jing Jiang, China. The vessels are most energy efficient and equipped with unique propulsion aids. The Transas scope of supply comprises the software for an Engine Room Simulator (ERS 4000) and the software plus dedicated hardware for a Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 ship handling simulator.

German Waterpolice Academy Upgrades Simulator

Transas Marine, Hamburg/Germany, has been awarded the upgrade contract of a Transas ECDIS Trainer for the German Waterpolice Academy, based on latest Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 and originally delivered in 2002. The new extended system comprises one instructor station and three trainee stations, each with Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS, a combined Conning and ARPA Station with NavAids included, a real AIS Transponder Minimum-Keyboard, reduced set of ship controls to manoeuvre the own ship and one visualisation channel to provide IMO Model Course 1.27 ECDIS Training.

UK, VTS Simulation from Transas

Transas Marine (UK) Ltd and Blackpool and the Fylde College’s Fleetwood Nautical Campus have successfully added a VTS simulation suite to its Transas Navi-Trainer Professional Simulation centre. The two Navi-Monitor workstations are able to monitor the developing traffic situation in any simulated exercise run on the main navigational bridges on site; a capability that is required for Fleetwood to deliver VTS Operator training to the IALA V103 standard. A projected visualisation channel gives the view from the control tower and completes the ‘full mission’ effect that this leading training establishment has always strived for. Transas Releases New Version of Engine Room Simulator

Transas has commercially launched the latest version of its Engine Room Simulator, ERS 4000. The new simulator is enhanced with a number of new significant capabilities aimed at satisfying the increasing demands of users of this kind of simulation product. The modified ERS 4000 simulator features a modern design for the dedicated hardware set with new control panels, and some essential improvements have been made to the simulator’s functionality. One of these is the new configuration for the Electric Power Plant, which now includes Steam Turbo-generator and the updated Steam Plant.

CMI Gets New Transas Simulator

The installation by Transas of a multi-million dollar full mission simulator upgrade project is well on its way at the Caribbean Maritime Institute’s (CMI) Training Centre in Kingston, Jamaica, and is expected to be fully operational before the start of the September school year. Financed mainly by the European Development Fund (EDF) and the Caribbean Development Band (CDB), the simulator project is implemented by Transas and comprises its Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 navigational bridge with seven channels of visual display and the potential to expand that number to nine channels; Engine Room Simulator, ERS 3000; Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator (LCHS), and GMDSS simulator, TGS 4100.

Turkish Chamber of Shipping Orders Transas Simulator

The Turkish Chamber of Shipping has ordered a combined full mission bridge and GMDSS simulator system from Transas Marine (UK) Ltd. to be supplied to the Training Center of TUDEV Maritime Academy, located at Tuzla, near Istanbul. The project is supported financially by the Turkish Ship Owners' Association. The system will comprise a full mission ship handling Transas simulator of the Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 type, including one main bridge with a full set of real ship controls and nine visualization channels, and a second CBT-bridge with reduced ship controls. Both bridges will be provided with ECDIS, ARPA/Radar, Conning and GMDSS.

Pilotage Maritimes du Havre, the famous French pilot station, has chosen a Transas bridge simulator to be used for training professional seafarers at their premises.
