US Naval Construction Group 2 Welcomes Its First Woman Commander

Captain Constance Solina relieved Capt. Jeff Deviney as commander, Naval Construction Group (NCG) 2, during a change of command ceremony on July 7 to become the first woman to commanded an NCG and all Atlantic-based Seabees. (The Seabee nickname is a heterograph of the initial letters "CB" from the words "Construction Battalion".)Deviney, from Freer, Texas, led 4,500 personnel over the course of two years and oversaw their manning, training, and equipment readiness needs to ensure they deployed on time to five separate combatant commands.

Indian Naval Ships Call At Port Louis, Mauritius

Indian Naval ships Kolkata and Aditya, under the Command of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, are in Mauritius since 1st September 2016, in a demonstration of India's commitment to its ties with Mauritius and to promote maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. INS Kolkata is commanded by Captain Rahul Vilas Gokhale and INS Aditya is commanded by Captain Vidyanshu Srivastava. The ships are part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet based at Mumbai under the Western Naval Command and are on a two month long deployment in the Western Indian Ocean. Nupas-Cadmatic Signs Software Contract with NAS

Nupas-Cadmatic has signed a deal with North American Shipbuilding (NAS), part of Edison Chouest Offshore and based in Larose, Louisiana. The contract includes the complete configuration of more than 50 structural, outfitting, electrical, production and nesting licenses. The deal was signed after a trial period that challenged the software’s capabilities. RS Reaches Several Agreements at Neva

During the maritime Neva exhibition, taking place this week in St Petersburg, Russia, a number of agreements were signed promoting use of advanced IT solutions and enhancement of professional training within the maritime industry. Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet, classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Petrobalt Design Office and the Dutch company Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG) signed a quadripartite agreement on the establishment of NUPAS-CADMATIC Training and Innovation Center. CadCam Report

The Peene-Werft in Wolgast, Germany, has chosen Nupas-Cadmatic software solution as their main CAD/CAE/CAM system. During an implementation project of about two months, the shipyard will implement Nupas-Cadmatic for the complete Hull structure, Piping, Machinery and Outfitting including special customizations for the yard's high-tech production facilities like profile cutting robots, automated pipe workshop, web panels and their in-house material management system. The first project - building the first of a series of heavy cargo vessels - commenced in the beginning of February 2000. A group of about 20 engineers have been trained in several disciplines of the Nupas-Cadmatic system.
