Latvian Delegation Visits JNPT

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Mumbai hosted a high-level delegation led by the Prime Minister of Latvia Mr Maris Kucinskis, on 4th November, 2017 . The delegation was on a five day visit to India starting 2nd November, 2017, during which the Latvian PM also met Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The delegation was given a detailed tour of the port to observe various port operations and the implementation of various Ease of Doing Business initiatives. Deputy Chairman of JNPT, Neeraj Bansal also briefed the delegation about the Government’s flagship programme Sagarmala and the opportunities that were expected to emerge as the ports developed into engines of growth.

JNPCT Wins “Container Terminal of the Year” Award, 2017

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) was awarded “Container Terminal of the Year” Award for the above 0.6 million TEUs category at The Gateway Awards 2017 held at Mumbai. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port owned JNPCT won the award for its proactive strategies to ease congestion, smooth delivery of containers and revamping of infrastructure to support trade amidst adverse conditions. Accepting the award, Shri Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman, JNPT said “JNPCT has been able to create growth momentum in the last few years as a result of various initiatives to increase the overall efficiency of the terminal and the Port. The Gateway Award was instituted to recognise and promote best practices, innovation and motivation in the Indian Maritime industry.

JNPT to Support Direct Port Delivery Facility

Indian government is exhorting importers to use the Direct Port Delivery (DPD) facility, an initiative aimed at reducing dwell time and transaction costs, reported PTI. According to Ministry of Shipping, the Direct Port Delivery (DPD) is a major initiative of the Centre under programmes like Make in India and Ease of Doing Business and very important drive for reduction of dwell time and transaction cost. In a workshop on “Direct Port Delivery at Indian Ports-Challenges & Opportunities”, organized by Bureau of Research on Industry & Economic Fundamentals (BRIEF) in New Delhi, Neeraj Bansal, Dy.Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) gave presentation on “ Initiatives and roadmap towards Direct Port Delivery at JNPT”. Bansal highlighted that DPD is a major initiative of Govt.

Haropa Ports sees double digit maritime trade with India

France-based Haropa port expects maritime trade with India to grow at double digit this calendar year after having reported 7% growth in 2016, said Herve Martel, , CEO - Port of Le Havre & President- HAROPA ports. “We have received encouraging response from the Indian policy makers as also from port, shipping lines & Indian trade during our four day visit to India and we hope to build upon this momentum with increasing French investments taking place in India,” Martel said at the concluding leg of the multi city road show that took place in Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad and finally in Mumbai. There are over 1,000 French subsidiaries, including Sanofi, Arkema, Dassault, Alstom, Total etc, in India.

Port of Antwerp Opens New Training Centre in India

Indian port professionals who follow courses given in Mumbai by APEC, the port of Antwerp training centre, can now benefit from a purpose-built training facility. The new facility was officially opened on Monday this week during the annual Port of Antwerp Mission to India, in the presence of Belgian deputy prime minister Alexander De Croo, port alderman Marc Van Peel, APEC principal Kristof Waterschoot, JNPT chairman Shri Neeraj Bansal and Indian Port Association chairman Shri Sanjay Bhatia. Port professionals in India have been able to follow APEC courses since 2015 when the Antwerp training institute signed a five-year agreement with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the largest container port in India.

Iranian Delegation visits JNPT

An Iranian delegation headed by Dr. Abbas Akhoundi, Hon. Minister of Road and Urban Development visited JN Port (Jawaharlal Nehru Port) to see the Port facilities and know about the future development plans. Dr. Akhoundi and his delegation were received by  Shri Anil Diggikar, Chairman, JNPT, Shri Neeraj Bansal,  Dy.Chairman, JNPT and senior Port officials. The delegation was taken around the Port operational area to show the Port infrastructure and facilities. In the meeting the delegation was briefed about the Port traffic performance, financial performance and the various  ‘Ease of Doing Business Initiatives’  implemented for the benefit of  trade.

$301 mln Dredging Operation by JNPT

The board of  Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India’s biggest container port, has approved Rs 2000 crore ($301 mln) dredging operation of the channel between Bombay Port Trust  (BPT) and its own end to facilitate bigger ships docking/berthing at the port premises. Currently, the port with a draft of 14 metres (tidal) is capable of receiving ships that can carry 11,000 containers and on April 1, a ship with 13,900 containers will call on the port reflecting the greater draft capacity. The new proposal is to increase the depth to 15 meter. JNPT deputy chairman, Neeraj Bansal said that a cabinet nod will be required post work order, the channel deepening work will take couple of months. It is expected to be complete by the end of 2016-17 fiscal or beginning of 2017-2018.

JNPT Installs ECIL's Radiological Detection Equipment

P.Sudhakar, Chairman & Managing Director, Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) handed over a critical homeland security system - Radiological Detection Equipment (RDE) to Neeraj Bansal, Chairman In charge, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), Mumbai in presence of Dr. R.K.Sinha, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy at an impressive function at JNPort today. JNPort is the largest container port in India handling the major container traffic of the country. JNPort has further equipped itself in handling all kinds of cargo as per international safety standards by installing this Radiological Detection Equipment (RDE). This security system would neither be a hindrance to the moving cargo nor will add another security clearance layer.

Peel Ports, JNPT in Historic Partnership

At a formal event presided by ShriNitinGadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport,Highways and Shipping in the presence of ShriAnil Desai, Member of RajyaSabhainMumbai, India’s No.1 Container Terminal Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust,  have today signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Major UK ports operator, Peel Ports, who own the Port of Liverpool . Measured by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the UK is already the biggest G20 ‘maker’ in India. Last year the UK invested $3.2 billion in India accounting for almost 10% of all FDI flows into India, more than the second and third largest G20 investors into India combined. Likewise, Indian companies are amongst the biggest investors in the UK. The innovations developed through these collaborations have hugely benefited both countries.

JNPT Reports Highest Ever Container Traffic

India's largest container port Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has handled 63.80 million tonnes of total cargo during the financial year 2014-15 as against 62.33 million tonnes of cargo handled during the previous year. Of the total, share of containerized cargo was 56.93 million tonnes (89.24%), liquid cargo 6.19 million tonnes (9.70%) and remaining 0.68 million tonnes (1.06%) was miscellaneous cargo in the form of dry bulk and break bulk. In the core container segment, it reported 7.33 per cent growth in traffic handled at 4.467 million standard units (TEUs), which is the highest ever single year handling, JNPT, one of the 12 major ports run by the Government of India and located in the state of Maharashtra, said in a statement.

Milaha launches Qatar - India Service

Milaha Maritime & Logistics, a subsidiary of the Qatar based Milaha Group which delivers integrated transport and supply chain solutions in the GCC, has announced the launch of the first direct container service between Qatar and India. The non-stop service will connect Qatar’s Doha port with India’s largest port Nhava Sheva, also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Port, located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The move will further facilitate the thriving trade activities between the two countries that have witnessed a phenomenal growth in the recent years. Unlike existing services in the market, the new weekly service by Milaha will enable direct shipments between Nhava Sheva and Doha without the need for transshipment in Jebel Ali or elsewhere…

Launch of “SwachhBharat Abhiyan” in JNPT

In response to the Nation’s call by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, followed by the communication from the Ministry of Shipping, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (INPT) has launched the “Swachh BharatAbhiyan” (MyCleanIndia – Of Dirt and Cleanliness) at the Port. The Abhiyan was formally inaugurated by JNPT Chairman, Mr. N.N.Kumar, IRS in the presence of the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Neeraj Bansal,IRS; the Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr Sushovan Banerjee, IPS;the Heads of Departments and other officials of JNPT. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman stressed the need to make cleanliness as an integral part of our life and said that it is JNPT’s responsibility to sensitize the community in the vicinity of the Port to become a part of this noble mission.

Neeraj Bansal Appointed Deputy Chairman of JNPT

The Government of India has appointed Neeraj Bansal as Deputy Chairman of India's largest container port,  Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust with immediate effect. Mr Neeraj Bansal is an Officer of Indian Revenue Servie with around twenty years of experience across the country in Direct Tax Administration, Investigation, Tax-payer Service, Vigilance, Legal & Co-ordination. * LL.B. * Wide administrative experience in the general managerial capacity in handling the Legal, Personnel, Co-ordination, Vigilance, Administrative matters of more than 5000 Officers and Staff members of Income-tax Department, Mumbai in a highly unionized environment. * Vast experience in handling legal issues such as, Vodafone case and Scam cases of Harshad Mehta before Hon’ble Supreme Court, Bombay High Court etc.
