Richard Mueller Named President-elect of SNAME

Richard Mueller, president and CEO of naval architecture and marine engineering firm NETSCo has been elected as president-elect of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and is slated to ascend to the presidency in the subsequent year.With almost five decades of experience in the maritime industry, Mueller is a respected and accomplished professional in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering. He has been a member of SNAME for over 46 years and has been actively involved in several of the society's leadership activities.

Bleutec's 'Binary Marine Installation Solution' Earns AIP from ABS

Houston-based Bleutec Industries announced it has received approval in principle (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for the designs of its Jones Act compliant offshore wind farm construction solution.Envisioned as an alternative to wind turbine installation vessels (WTIV), Bleutec's "binary marine installation solution" (BMIS) is a spread of DP2 vessels designed in partnership with Ohio-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm NETSCo, each engineered to be built at U.S. shipyards and operated within the U.S.

Viking Cruises Collaborates with NETSCo for Mississippi River Cruises

Flores comes to Netsco from OSG (Overseas Shipholding Group) where he headed the FSO Group and was responsible for Business Development in the Offshore market. Moran Iron Works Awarded Barge Building Contract

Moran Iron Works (MIW) was recently awarded a contract to build two ocean going deck barges for Durocher Marine, a division of Kokosing Construction Co., based in Cheboygan, Michigan. The two deck barges will be 180’ X 54’ X 12’ with 2,500 lb/ft2 deck strength and 2,400 short ton cargo capacity. They will be built in accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and classifications. The barges will follow ABS rules for building and classing steel barges for offshore service. They will be classed as ABS A1 Ocean Service Deck Barges and will have an International Load Line Certificate.

Netsco Forms Choice Ballast Solutions

Rich Mueller, President and CEO of Netsco, a company in marine engineering and naval architecture firm since 1984, has established Choice Ballast Solutions, LLC (Choice) to provide additional engineering and service capacity. Choice offers shipowners assistance with selection, engineering and installation of ballast water management systems. Choice services include surveys, engineering, drawings, project management, equipment commissioning and startup and service. Choice said it recognizes that the ballast water treatment market is stalled due to structural constraints, (lack of equipment type approval from the U.S. Coast Guard and/or ratification of the 2004 Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) Convention).
