Freightgate Announces SOLAS VGM Compliance Solution

Freightgate Inc announced an easy to use, integrated (SSO enabled) solution for International Shippers around the world to comply with the new IMO Requirement to certify VGM (Verified Gross Mass). The new solution includes a plug-in that let’s you connect directly from your NetSuite Cloud ERP to the Freightgate Logistics Cloud and record your VGM submissions to your carrier. "We are very excited to bring this timely solution to the market to enable our customers and the shipping public at large to comply with this new global VGM requirement” states Martin Hubert, President and CEO of Freightgate, Inc.. The new Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention requirements goes into effect on July 1, 2016.

Ocean Freight Contract Management Post-P3

The recent decision by Chinese antitrust authorities to block approval of the P3 Ocean Carrier Alliance has increased the demand for Ocean Contract Management. In response, Freightgate is offering free demonstration of its award winning Rate & Tender Management Tariff-Trek! Solution. The proposed mega-alliance by the world’s three biggest shipping - Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping Co and CMA CGM would have created common tariff pricing to most of the world’s ocean ports. It was estimated the P3 alliance would have controlled 42 percent on the Asia-to-Europe route, 24 percent in the trans-Pacific trade, and up to 42 percent in the trans-Atlantic. Now, says Freightgate, shippers are in a better negotiating position to control their ocean freight costs.

Port of Portland Chooses NetSuite Software

NetSuite Inc., provider of cloud-based financials/ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, announced that Victoria's Port of Portland has gone live with NetSuite. Port of Portland replaced its existiny systems for financial; shipping, accounts payable and receivable; payroll and maintenance, projects and operations, with a single instance of NetSuite for financials, payroll, project management, asset management and shipping. Port of Portland said it was able to improve the efficiencies of its financials and project management capabilities with NetSuite, as well as streamline its ship scheduling process to support its growing customer base of exporters.
