VLCC Carrying Diesel Changes Destination for Third Time

New-build VLCC Maran Aphrodite, which is carrying a 200,000 metric ton diesel cargo from Asia, has changed its final destination for a third time, according to Reuters ship-tracking data.The ship was originally calling on Rotterdam before changing its destination to New York harbour on May 11, then to Gibraltar on May 29 and as of June 5 it is calling on Southwold in the U.K.The tanker is currently off the coast of West Africa.The vessel was chartered by Total, according to traders.(Reporting by Ahmad Ghaddar; editing by Jason Neely)

Largest-ever Diesel Cargo Heads to Europe

Europe is expected to receive its largest-ever diesel cargo after French refiner Total booked a super tanker to sail to the region even as it faces brimming storage tanks and wilting demand. Total has chartered the newly-built very large crude carrier (VLCC) tanker Alice to ship 270,000 tonnes of diesel, three times the typical cargo size on the route, from Asia to the port of Antwerp in Belgium, according to shipping data and Reuters ship tracking. Traders Eye Floating Diesel Storage in Atlantic

Europe diesel stocks reach fresh record high; huge imports from Asia, Middle East weigh on supplies. Oil traders are preparing to store diesel in giant tankers off the coasts of northern Europe and New York as land storage tanks are nearly full, traders said on Friday. Tank capacity levels are above 70 percent in some cases, levels considered near maximum, according to traders. While the recent glut in global crude oil supplies appears to ease, boosting oil prices, diesel supplies around the world are set to rise sharply in the coming months, according to analysts. Benchmark diesel barge values in northwest Europe dropped over the past week as huge volumes of the driving fuel reach the region from around the world.
