Vietnam Orders Vessels Back to Port ahead of Tropical Storm

Vietnam has ordered vessels back to port and prepared evacuation plans in flood-prone northern provinces as tropical storm "Son Tinh" was expected to make landfall later on Wednesday.Son Tinh, which soaked parts of the Philippines on Tuesday, had reached sustained wind speeds of up to 90 km (56 miles) per hour, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said in a statement on Wednesday.The storm was expected to dump up to 350 mm (13.8 inches) of heavy rains on Vietnam's northern provinces and could trigger floods and landslides…

Royal HaskoningDHV Opens Office in Ho Chi Minh City

International engineering and project management consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV has celebrated the opening of its new office in Vietnam in a ceremony which also marked 30 years of operations in the country. The event was attended by Mr Simon van der Burg, Dutch Consul General in Vietnam together with representatives from Royal HaskoningDHV including Mr Erik Oostwegel, Chairman, Ms Jaska de Bakker, CFO and Mr Lars Crombach, Managing Director in Vietnam. The opening of Royal HaskoningDHV’s new office in Ho Chi Minh City underlines the company’s strong growth in Vietnam. The company, which has offices in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi, has relocated from its previous premises in the economic centre of Vietnam to a larger, modern building in a new business district.

Vietnam, Australia, Dredging Contracts for Boskalis

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) wins dredging contracts with a combined contract value of approximately EUR 70 million. In Melbourne, Australia, Boskalis has been awarded the dredging contract for maintenance dredging. The contract was awarded by the Port of Melbourne Corporation and is for a period of four years with two options for extension, each of three years. The dredging activities, which are to commence in March 2013, relate to the maintenance of the port basin and sections of the 60 kilometers access channel. For this project a medium-sized trailing suction hopper dredger and a backhoe will be deployed for the dredging and capping of the sediment. The port of Melbourne is the largest container and cargo port in Australia.
