13 Dead after Tourist Boat Capsizes in Vietnam

At least 13 tourists were found dead and four remained missing after a boat capsized off Vietnam's central coast of Hoi An on Saturday, a city official said."We are searching for the missing," Nguyen Sinh, party chief of Cua Dai Ward in Hoi An City told Reuters.The accident happened when the boat was carrying 36 tourists and three sailors from Cu Lao Cham Island to Hoi An, the government said in a statement.Vietnam is seeing an increase in tourism activities after the country recently lifted most of its coronavirus curbs.

Vinashin's Bank Loan Extended

According to a report from Viet Nam News, the government green-lighted a plan that will extend the loan payment period for Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin). According to the Government Office, a new dispatch signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said the Government agreed with the Ministry of Finance's proposal to extend the loan payment period for export credits.    (Source: Viet Nam News)

Vinashin Gradually Stabilizes

According to the VOV News, some members of the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group Vinashin have recovered from the economic crisis and stabilized their production and business to create more jobs and ensure workers’ incomes. On April 9, Vinashin’s Party Committee held its second Party Congress for the 2011-2015 term in the presence of politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is also head of the Steering Committee for restructuring the Vinashin group.     (Source: VOV News)

New Vietnam Shipbuilding Group to be Lauched

According to a report from the VietnamNet Bridge, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said a new Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group, Vinashin, will be unveiled this month or early November. The new shipbuilding group will focus on its core business, which are shipbuilding and repairing; supporting industries for shipbuilding; and providing training courses in the field.
