Nonprofit Honors Boysie Bollinger for Outstanding Achievements

Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., a nonprofit educational organization honoring the achievements of outstanding individuals and encouraging youth to pursue their dreams through higher education, today announced that Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger, Chairman and CEO of Bollinger Enterprises, LLC and retired Chairman and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards, has been selected for membership in this prestigious organization. Mr. Bollinger joins 12 other exceptional business, civic and cultural leaders from across North America in receiving 2023 honors.

Bollinger Hires Naquin as Sales Director

Partners Awarded $50 Million to Create Clean Hydrogen Cluster in South Louisiana

The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) earlier this month awarded a $50 million federal grant to H2theFuture, a 25-organization partnership aiming to develop a new energy cluster in South Louisiana, spanning the clean hydrogen life cycle, from R&D at Louisiana universities, to an end-use project at the Port of South Louisiana.The award is one of 21 projects from around the country chosen from 529 applicants that were funded by a $1 billion appropriation from the American Rescue Plan Act…

Dorsey Named Operations VP at Ingalls Shipbuilding

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced Thursday that Donny Dorsey has been named vice president of operations at its Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, Miss. Dorsey, formerly ship program manager for all DDG waterfront efforts at Ingalls Shipbuilding, replaces George Jones, who will retire April 1 after 37 years of service.“George’s expertise in shipbuilding has influenced generations of shipbuilders and the capabilities of the shipyard,” said Kari Wilkinson, president of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Bollinger Announces Promotions

Bollinger Shipyards President and CEO Ben Bordelon announced the promotions of two key leaders. Jerome Eymard has been promoted to the position of Director of Human Resources, and Rachael Battaglia to the position of General Counsel. Jerome Eymard has a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and a Master of Business Administration from Nicholls State University, and received his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2012. He joined Bollinger in 1999 and has been an integral component in the HR group’s success. His leadership and management skills have helped him progress within the group and has prepared him well to assume the leadership position. Nicholls' Maritime Management Program Continues to Grow

The College of Business Administration at Nicholls State University began offering students the option of maritime management as a degree concentration in the fall of 2013. In continuing Nicholls’ efforts to attract and serve new student groups, the maritime courses are also being offered to non-degree seeking individuals as part of a certificate program. According to Dr. Chadwick, director of the program, “We seek to accommodate both traditional students and those who are seeking to gain knowledge of the field, but not necessarily pursue a degree. This might include, but is not limited to, employees of maritime or maritime-related companies. In addition, a minor in Maritime Administration was approved this December.

Hoover Container Solutions Names Matis Sales Director

Hoover Container Solutions,a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., has named Matt Matis as director of sales for the Gulf of Mexico region. Matis is based in Thibodeaux, La., and will work closely with Hoover’s facilities in Port Fourchon, New Iberia and Scott, La. Matis will lead Hoover’s Louisiana sales efforts with a focus on the offshore industry while managing several major customer accounts. Additionally, he will work closely with the Hoover and Dolphin Energy Equipment teams to develop an integrated product and service offering to better support customers.

Maritime Training Expands to Meet Louisiana Gulf Demand

Employers are hiring in coastal Louisiana, especially as offshore drilling picks up in the Gulf of Mexico. Companies are concerned about finding enough skilled workers in a locally tight labor market. For mariners, a variety of training programs at different levels and costs are offered in south Louisiana. For those businesses without the significant wherewithal and training resources of a Kirby Corporation, for example, there are other viable options for training. Fletcher Technical Community College: The college’s Louisiana Marine and Petroleum Institute or LaMPI was founded in the late 1970s to provide local maritime training. The institute provides Coast Guard-approved courses to about 2,200 mariners a year now. Fletcher and LaMPI are located in Houma on the Louisiana Gulf.

Danos Announces Organizational Changes

Oil and gas operations partner Danos announced several personnel adjustments in various areas throughout the company. Mark Danos was named Division Manager of Construction and Fabrication. Mark joined Danos earlier this year as a Project Coordinator after eight years with ExxonMobil. Mark worked in various project management roles with ExxonMobil in Spain, Italy, Nigeria, Gibraltar, Angola and the U.S. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is the latest of the third generation owners to join the company. John Bigleris is now serving in a dual role of Account Executive for large construction projects and Bidding and Estimating Manager responsible for restructuring the bidding and estimating group for the organization.

Henry Appointed Director of IT at Bollinger

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. announced the appointment of Chris Henry as Director of Information Technology. Henry will have overall responsibility for Information Technology, including the direction of business process reengineering, database system strategy and strategic and tactical information technology planning. A native of the South Louisiana region, Henry has been involved with information technology in the oil and gas industry and energy sectors for the past twenty-two years. Henry is a 1987 graduate of Nicholls State University with a B.S. in Computer Science.

Bollinger Announces Staff Changes

As Bollinger Lockport New Construction (BLN) continues to grow, Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. announces changes to its managerial staff. Dennis Fanguy has been appointed to the position of vice president of quality management system where his responsibilities will encompass the programs in quality assurance / quality control, process improvement, accuracy control and test and trial groups for BLN, as well as the company’s ISO program. Fanguy has been with Bollinger for twenty-one years. He headed the design team for 115 patrol boats built by Bollinger for the U.S. Coast Guard. He also headed the team that designed the only fleet of U.S. Navy Fast Patrol boats ever built, which were also constructed at Bollinger. Fanguy is a graduate of the University of New Orleans in Electrical Engineering.

Frommelt Named President of PVA

Gary Frommelt, Hornblower Marine Services, Elizabeth, Ind., was elected 2003 PVA President on February 18 during the PVA Annual Convention at MariTrends 2003 held in Long Beach, CA. Other officers elected were PVA Vice President, David B. Clark, Golden Gate Ferry , Larkspur, CA, and PVA Secretary-Treasurer, Cornel Martin, Delta Queen Steamboat Company, New Orleans, LA. Frommelt serves as project manager for Hornblower Marine Services as director of marine operations for Caesars Indiana-home to the largest riverboat casino in the world. Frommelt was most recently PVA Vice President, has served on the PVA Board of Directors since 1996, and has been a long-term member of the Safety Committee.
