ASGARD: Developing an Anti-Spoofing Weapon

Saab and GMV are collaborating in ASGARD, an EU-funded project that aims to improve maritime security when using GNSS and OSNMA. The project addresses the growing threat of GNSS spoofing and other cyberattacks on navigation systems used in the maritime industry.The ASGARD project, run by Saab and GMV, is an ambitious European Union (EU) initiative that aims to develop advanced technologies to improve Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA) security in maritime environments.

Research Vessel Delivered to Orca Maritime

Armstrong Bags Hat Island Ferry Contract

Boatbuilder Armstrong Marine USA has been selected to construct a custom passenger ferry for the community of Hat Island, Washington.The 49-passenger USCG Subchapter T vessel features a galley, head, Northern Lights 9kW generator, Garmin/NMEA electronics package, and PA system. Gemeco Debuts SmartSeal Temp Sensors

The 12.5m x 4.2m NAIAD RHIB Kibou recently commenced daily tours in Hawaii. The vessel was built by Armstrong Marine USA for Hawaii Experiences, which also operates the 40’ catamaran Mirai, built by Armstrong in 2017. The 46’ x 17.5’ high tunnel catamaran George Ryan recently arrived in Juneau after departing Port Angeles, Washington three days prior. The vessel was built by Armstrong Marine USA for Alaska Tales Whale Watching, located in Juneau. Alaska Tales also operates a 42’ catamaran, Jay Ellis, built by Armstrong in 2017.The 49-passenger + 3 crew USCG Subchapter T vessel pairs speed with stability for the ultimate touring platform. Electronic Inclinometer for Tugboat Safety

Danish marine safety equipment manufacturer, Daniamant, has launched a tugboat version of its renowned Electronic Inclinometer, an advanced heel and pitch measuring device. The DanEI-300T fulfils the most recent Bureau Veritas Group’s regulations for escort tugboats and is approved by German BSH to the IMO (International Maritime Organization) performance standard MSC.363(92):2013. Bureau Veritas’ classification rules in the January 2019 edition stipulate that escort tugboats must be equipped with a calibrated heeling angle measurement system, otherwise referred to as an inclinometer.

The new Simrad V3100 Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) is designed to meet the needs of light commercial vessels and workboats operating in high-traffic areas.Complete with Self-Organized Time-Division Multiple Access (SOTDMA) technology and increased output power to provide improved transmission reliability and range, the new V3100 is a cost-effective package for vessels that require greater performance than standard Class B AIS, but do not require a full Class A solution.The Simrad V3100 incorporates the same SOTDMA technology found in Class A systems.

Ocean Signal has rolled out its new ATA100 Class A and ATB1 Class B AIS transponders as fully compliant solutions to increase visibility, aid collision-avoidance and enhance navigational safety for a range of commercial workboats, support vessels and fishing boats.
