Cadeler to Install Foundations at Ørsted's Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm

Danish offshore wind installation contractor Cadeler on Monday said it has signed an agreement with Ørsted for the installation of offshore foundations at the Hornsea 3 offshore windfarm, off the east coast of the U.K.Scheduled to begin in 2026, the offshore installation campaign will mark the first for Cadeler's new $345 million F-class jack-up installation vessel being built by China's COSCO Heavy Industries for expected delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025. Equinor Picks Stowen for Sheringham Shoal

Great Yarmouth-based Stowen Clean Energy has secured a maintenance contract with Equinor for its Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm off the North Norfolk coast in the UK.As per contract, Stowen will deliver a cathodic protection system for the substations for the 317MW offshore wind farm.The work will take place Q4 2019 – Q1 2020. Dudgeon Offshore Wind Bags $1.77B Refinancing

One of the world’s largest offshore wind projects, the 402-megawatt (MW) Dudgeon offshore wind farm in the U.K., announced the signing and pricing of privately placed notes for the refinancing of the project’s existing non-recourse project debt, with financial close expected next week. The original financing for Dudgeon was successfully closed in May 2016.The refinanced debt consists of approximately GBP1.27 billion ($1.77 billion) in fully-amortizing senior-term loans, comprising around GBP561 million in commercial debt and a GBP706 million private placement of senior secured notes, maturing in June 2032.Both tranches were oversubscribed, reflecting strong credit features and investor interest.

MPI Workboats Commence Contract with Statoil

MPI Workboats has been awarded two long-term contracts with Statoil on the Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm. MPI Napoleon and MPI Snowball will provide crew-transfer support, with the first vessel having commenced her 18-month contract earlier this month. The second vessel will start a three-year contact later in 2016. The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm is a GBP 1.5 billion project that will harness offshore wind to power more than 410,000 U.K. homes. Pioneering Tech for Offshore Wind Farm Maintenance

James Fisher Renewables conducted an innovative trial of Ship-to-Turbine (STT), an oil change system set to significantly improve safety, efficiency and reduce down time in offshore wind turbine gearbox oil changes. James Fisher Renewables reports that it has successfully trialed an innovative oil transfer system for the direct extraction and refill of offshore wind gearbox oils from a conventional access vessel, a trial performed on an offshore wind farm off the Norfolk coast.

Siemens to Decide on Hull, UK, Wind Turbine Factory

Planning consent for the ambitious £210-million redevelopment of Alexandra Dock where the factory will be based was granted in May. Already huge jack-up cranes are now regularly shipping turbine components from a riverside quay off Albert Dock to offshore wind farm sites off the Norfolk coast. Work has also already started on re-equipping a shipyard in Paull, where a new fleet of support vessels for the offshore wind industry will be built, reports the 'Hull Daily Mail'. Mark Jones, Hull City Council's head of economic development and regeneration said: "There is a revival of shipbuilding and marine engineering on the estuary. Alexandra Dock is set to be transformed under Green Port Hull plans.

Two of Three New UK Offshore Wind Farms Get Go Ahead

The two approved wind farms at Race Bank and Dudgeon in the Greater Wash off the Norfolk coast will have a combined capacity of more than 1 gigawatt, potentially generating enough electricity to power 730,000 homes, reports 'Wales Online'. A third offshore wind farm proposal at Docking Shoal, also off the Norfolk coast was not given the go-ahead because of the potential impact on Sandwich terns, whose colonies at Blakeney Point and Scolt Head Island fall within a Special Protected Area, which is protected under EU wildlife laws. The total amount of offshore wind power now operational, under construction or consented has reached 6.6GW. UK Energy minister Charles Hendry said: "The UK is racing ahead of the global field and these two new offshore wind farms underline this momentum.

Project Report: Sheringham Shoal Goes Offshore

On June 24, the first foundation was installed at sea for the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind project. Construction work on land is already well underway, and the 88-turbine wind farm is scheduled to start operation in 2011. The first of 90 monopile foundations was installed off the Norfolk coast by the heavy lift vessel “Svanen”. Over the next nine months, the vessel will install the remaining 89 foundations ready for the mounting of two substations and 88 wind turbines. “On land, we’re already well ahead, the substation is nearing its final form, and the onshore cable is nearly finished.

Ship Grounded off Norfolk Coast

A rescue operation has been launched after a large container ship ran aground off Haisboro Sands. The vessel, The City of Sunderland, is carrying a cargo of 642 Nissan cars and is currently lying on a sand bar eight miles off the north Norfolk coast. There are 13 crew members on board. The 9,576 ton ship became stuck at approximately 2.20am this morning while on a voyage from the port of Zeebrugge to Tees Port. Two tugs are now on their way up from Felixstowe and it is hoped that the Isle of Man registered vessel can be refloated. As yet it is unclear how the ship came to be grounded but the coastguard say the crew are not in danger. Source: EDP24
