Specially Designed Lifeboats for Pieter Schelte

The Norsafe JYN100 is a conventional Totally Enclosed Lifeboat (TELB) which is designed and built in accordance with the latest NORSOK R-002 standards, with a capacity of 106 persons. The advanced hydraulic davit systems are specially designed for platform installation/decommissioning and pipelay vessel Pieter Schelte. “This confirms Norsafe’s versatility and ability to supply life saving appliances (LSA) to all of the World’s most advanced vessels and offshore installations”, said SVP Sales and Marketing Kjell Soerensen in Norsafe Group.

Petrojarl Knarr FPSO Earns AoC from PSA Norway

Teekay’s Petrojarl Knarr FPSO has received PSA Norway’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC), and has now arrived the Knarr field in the North Sea. The AoC is a statement from the PSA expressing the authorities’ confidence that petroleum activity can be performed by the facility within the regulatory framework. FPSO Petrojarl Knarr is to be used on the Knarr field, where BG Norge AS is the operator. The Knarr field is in the North Sea, around 50 kilometers north-east of Snorre. Petrojarl Knarr is classified by DNV GL and sails under the Bahamian flag.

Norsafe Freefall Lifeboat Spurs Huge Demand

Norsafe received orders worth NOK 400-million (US$ 45.3-million) over the course of October 2012, & backlog at record height. "It is Norsafe’s newly developed GES50 MKIII freefall lifeboat which accounts for the bulk of these orders," says CEO Geir Skaala, adding that the international demand for this product is fantastic. GES50 MKIII (Gravity Escape System) is certified according to the DNV-OS-E406, the world's strictest requirements for freefall lifesaving systems, applicable on the Norwegian continental shelf from 2015.

Height Drop Record by Norsafe Lifeboat

Norsafe conducts the highest free-fall drop ever, 61.53 meters (201.9 ft)  featuring a so-called free-fall lifeboat. The test came in the wake of another successful drop from a height of 52 metres earlier the same week. Norsafe's groundbreaking new lifeboat, the GES50 MKIII is thus certified for heights up to 47 metres. "Norsafe's purpose is not to set records in free-fall drops of lifesaving equipment," says Norsafe AS CEO Geir Skaala. "The essence of our products, however, is to save lives. Quality and trust is the foundation of our existence.
