ExxonMobil Inks Deal to Collaborate on Caledonia LNG Project

ExxonMobil, Babcock International Group, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), Calor and Orkney Islands Council have signed an agreement to collaborate in the “Caledonia LNG ” project. The aim is to develop the infrastructure, storage and technical support needed to enable safe liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations for customers in the north of the UK and North Sea, including bunkering. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 22 November to investigate opportunities to supply LNG for marine and land-based applications. ExxonMobil will explore the potential for its global marine network to deliver LNG bunker fuel to customers in the region as well as providing technical support and expertise to enable safe LNG bunkering operations.

Aiming to develop the infrastructure, storage and technical support needed to enable safe liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations for customers in the north of the U.K. and North Sea, including bunkering, partners ExxonMobil, Babcock International Group, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), Calor and Orkney Islands Council have signed an agreement to collaborate in the Caledonia LNG project. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 22 to investigate opportunities to supply LNG for marine and land-based applications.

Peel Ports Secures WEC Lines Service for Liverpool

Dutch company WEC Lines is to begin weekly calls at the Port of Liverpool from February 10th, providing a new option for shippers looking to access central and northern UK markets. The brand new service will connect Liverpool with Lisbon, Setubal, Leixoes and Sines and vice versa, with other links to Ireland, Scotland, Morocco, Spain and the Canary Islands. WEC Lines said: “This is a major new development for us, offering a dedicated, faster and direct container service for our customers in the Iberian peninsula, north Africa and the Canaries.

Kelvin Hughes Expands Sales Force

Kelvin Hughes has expanded its international sales team to meet the growing interest in its range of hi-tech radar equipment for the commercial, military and leisure sectors. Ian Yuill has been appointed International Sales Manager and Peter Chahal and Wilko Smit have become Area Sales Managers. Yuill has a background in sales and marketing spanning over 25 years with companies such as Northern Foods, BT and BBL Medical. He joined Kelvin Hughes from US based software company, Compassoft, where he managed the European sales operation as Director of EMEA. Smit, originally from Rotterdam, served in the Royal Dutch Navy for six years as a Technical Specialist before working as a Sales Engineer for one of Kelvin Hughes’ main distributors.

PD Ports Promote Trade Opps in Far East

PD Ports senior representatives, including David Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, have returned to PD Ports’ Teesport operations, following a successful 14-day tour of the Far East. The aim of the tour, which included visits to Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea and Dubai, was to promote greater use of Teesport and stimulate interest for new shipping lines to call at the Port direct. Teesport currently has frequent callings from eight container shipping lines and carriers such as Maersk, CMA CGM, K Line and MSC. PD Ports’ Far East schedule included meetings with several leading shipping lines and logistics companies to raise the awareness of the Port’s $444m deep sea container terminal development, known as The Northern Gateway (NGCT).
