Edda Wind Names Øverlie CFO

Norwegian offshore wind vessel owner Edda Wind announced it has appointed Hermann Hovland Øverlie as its new chief financial officer (CFO) following the resignation of Tom Johan Austrheim. Øverlie will join Edda Wind March 1, 2024.Øverlie is currently senior vice president of business development at Flex LNG and was previoulsy CFO at Amar Group. Øverlie has also extensive experience from financial/liquidity planning, risk management and financial analysis from Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers and DnB. He holds a master’s degree in financial economics from BI Norwegian School of Management.

Corvus Energy Names Bjørkeli CEO

Corvus Energy has appointed Geir Bjørkeli as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Bjørkeli was previously Director of Norway for the Dutch company Huisman, and established the company’s Norwegian presence for offshore construction equipment solutions. Bjørkeli will remain based in Bergen, Norway. Prior to joining Huisman, Bjørkeli was a design engineer with the ship designer and shipbuilder Ulstein. Singapore Strengthens Maritime Ties with Norway

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), represented by Chief Executive, Andrew Tan, signed a Joint Statement with the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries on October 10 during the State Visit by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to Norway. Norway’s signatory was State Secretary Dilek Ayhan. The signing was witnessed by President Tony Tan and His Majesty King, Harald V of Norway. Besides substantial commercial and industrial cooperation between the maritime clusters of Singapore and Norway, both countries also have extensive cooperation in research and development in maritime environment, sustainable energy technology, offshore and marine engineering, maritime operations and info-communications technology.

Recommendation from Statoil's Nomination Committee

The nomination committee in Statoil has recommended that the company's corporate assembly elects Øystein Løseth as new chair and Roy Franklin as a new member and deputy chair of Statoil's board of directors. Furthermore, the nomination committee recommends a re-election of Bjørn Tore Godal, Jakob Stausholm and Marjan Oudeman as members of the board of directors. Chair of the board Svein Rennemo and board member Jim Mulva have informed the nomination committee that they do not wish to stand for re-election in 2015. Svein Rennemo has been chair of the Statoil board of directors since 2008, and informed the nomination committee in 2014 that he wanted to be replaced.

Yara Names Brandtzæg New CEO

The board of directors of Yara International today announced the appointment of Svein Richard Brandtzæg as the company's new President and Chief Executive Officer. He will succeed Jørgen Ole Haslestad by February 2015. Brandtzæg currently serves as President and CEO of Norsk Hydro ASA, a position he has held since 2009. Prior to this, he has held a number of management positions in Norsk Hydro. Born in Norway in 1957, Brandtzæg graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He holds an economics degree from the Norwegian School of Management and a PhD from NTNU. "In preparation for the retirement of Jørgen Ole Haslestad at the age of 65, the Yara Board of Directors initiated a thorough process to identify his successor.

Statoil Appoints Michelsen, Nes, Myrebøe

As of Nov. 10, Øystein Michelsen, Helga Nes and Gunnar Myrebøe have been appointed members of StatoilHydro's corporate executive committee. Mr. Michelsen will take up the position as executive vice president for the Exploration & Production Norway business area, Mr. Myrebøe is to hold the same post in the Projects business area and Ms. Nes will lead the area for corporate staffs and services. Business-to-business e-commerce enabler e4marine has enhanced its management steam with the appointment of Kurt Karstensen as Project Manager. He will be responsible for integrating e4marine’s increasing number of projects of both new suppliers and buyers. The 41-year-old Mr. Karstensen brings to e4marine extensive experience in IT projects directly related to customers and systems integration, especially with regard to electronic transactions and electronic payment in the financial market. New Directors Elected at Aker Maritime

Aker Maritime's corporate assembly has elected Bengt A Rem and Olav Revhaug as the new shareholder representatives on the board of Aker Maritime ASA. Aker Maritime's corporate assembly has elected new directors to take the place of Kjell Inge Røkke and Helge Lund who resigned as directors of Aker Maritime after being elected to the board of Kværner ASA. The election was in accordance with the election committee's recommendations. Bengt A Rem is executive vice president of Aker RGI with responsibility for finance and administration. RGI since 1995, he previously held positions at the Oslo Stock Exchange and Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a state-authorized accountant and a graduate of the Norwegian School of Management. Olav Revhaug is a director of Aker RGI.

New Director Proposed For Kværner ASA Board

The nomination committee of Kværner ASA has proposed Bjørn Flatgård as a new member of the company's Board. The proposal has been put forward after soundings were taken among Kvaerner's leading shareholders. "The nomination committee has made a point of proposing a director with industrial competence, international experience and integrity, and who moreover, will attend to the interests of all Kvaerner's shareholders," said Ragnhild M Wiborg, the committee head. The election of a new director will take place at Kvaerner's Annual General Meeting on 15 May. The vacancy on the Board arose in December 2001 when Helge Lund, having been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Kværner ASA, decided to resign from his seat on the Board. Bjørn Flatgård is Chief Executive Officer of Elopak AS.

Aker Kvaerner Appoints Helsing EVP

Pål Helsing was appointed Executive Vice President for Aker Kvaerner's Business Area Field Development, succeeding Simen Lieungh. Helsing will be a member of the Executive Management Team reporting to Martinus Brandal, President & CEO. Helsing comes from Subsea, one of Aker Kvaerner's five Business Areas, where he was Senior Vice President for Subsea Systems. Helsing has worked with Aker Kvaerner since 1993, and has extensive industry experience from several high-level management positions within the company in Norway and internationally. Before starting with Aker Kvaerner, Helsing worked with FMC Kongsberg as Engineering Manager. He obtained his academic education from Glasgow University and the Norwegian School of Management.
