Henriksen Unveils Safer Hook Range
A new range of hooks from Henriksen AS introduces a significant level of safety for crews engaged in towing small to medium-sized vessels and loads. The new towing hook has been designed for users at the lighter end of the towing spectrum and it is available in three versions for use with loads from ten, five and two a half tonnes. Each model is certified as being capable of towing loads up to six times greater than its designated strength which makes it an important asset for any working vessel that is routinely engaged in towing operations. The first sale has been made to a fish farm on the west coast of Norway where the movement of feed barges is a regular part of daily activity.
Lifeboat Donated to Hellenic Rescue Team
A new lifeboat has been donated to the Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT) by fellow International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) members the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (RS), and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ‘Norway II’ is the second lifeboat to be donated to HRT and follows ‘Norway I’ that has operated since September last year in the Aegean Sea around Kos. Rescue Ship Idar Ulstein Named in Norway
The search and rescue boat Idar Ulstein was named in Ulsteinvik today, becoming the latest newbuild to join the fleet of the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue. RS Idar Ulstein is also the first vessel in the new Ulstein class, named after ULSTEIN’s long-time CEO. The new vessel Idar Ulstein was named by lady sponsor Gunvor Ulstein in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik. Lifeboat Crews Conclude Training Program
A seven day Lifeboat Crew Exchange Program involving rescue volunteers from nine countries has proved to be a fulfilling training exercise for all 55 participants. With the aim of exchanging knowledge, sharing ideas and building relationships between the voluntary institutions, the project is designed to help reduce the number of people losing their lives in Europe’s waters. Instigated by the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) and the Search and Rescue (SAR) organization KNRM from the Netherlands, the program has four clear objectives.
