Moose Boats Delivers Fireboat to Rochester, NY

California-based boatbuilder Moose Boats has delivered a new fireboat to the Rochester, N.Y. Fire Department. The M2-38, dubbed Marine 1, is the first Moose in the Great Lakes. With a roof monitor, a cockpit monitor, a 5” large diameter hose Storz discharge, and the ability to pump over 1,500 gallons per minute, this boat will offer greatly increased capabilities to the city and its surrounding communities, the builder said.Rochester Fire Department's new boat has an extended walk-around cabin configured with three shock-mitigating crew seats…

For Fireboats, The Heat is On

These days, cost-conscious municipalities across the fruited plain, from sea to shining sea, are ordering new waterborne assets to cover their many local responsibilities. When they do, they want ‘more bang for their buck,’ combining multiple missions – and the equipment that makes it all possible – onto one hull. Moose Boats for Rochester FD

Moose Boats won a contract from the City of Rochester, NY, Fire Department for the construction of the first M2-38 Fire Rescue Catamaran to be delivered to the Great Lakes.Twin Cummins 425hp turbo diesel propulsion engines, Twin Disc transmissions and Hamilton water-jets will power the M2-38 aluminum catamaran. Rochester Fire's new Moose Boat will be equipped with a fire pump system flowing more than 1,500 gpm of fire suppression water to cabin roof and cockpit mounted monitors while simultaneously maintaining full maneuverability from both propulsion engines and jets.

XL Group’s Ocean Marine Unit Expands Brown Water Business

XL Group plc’s North American Marine business has boosted its underwriting expertise with the addition of Chris Cooke who has joined as Vice President, Hull and Liabilities. According to Richard DeSimone, President of XL Group’s North American Marine business, “We are very pleased to have Chris join our team as we look to expand our Brown Water Hull, P&I and Primary Marine Liability capabilities. “Over the last year, we’ve expanded our underwriting team to trading hubs in Cleveland, Baltimore, Richmond and Atlanta along with existing operations in New York putting us in closer proximity to our clients. Part of that expansion is developing additional coverages that will allow us to address even more of our clients’ risk management needs,” explained Mr. DeSimone.
