SFPD Receive M2-37 Catamaran Patrol Boat

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, delivered the 70th Moose Boat built, a M2-37 Catamaran Patrol Boat to San Francisco Police Department. The M2-37 all aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin Cummins QSB6.7L 425hp turbo diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton HJ292 water-jets. The cabin is outfitted with shock mitigating seating for three personnel, a generous workstation, an array of Furuno navigation equipment, Motorola and Icom communications equipment and FLIR gyro-stabilized thermal imaging equipment with a dedicated Nauticomp display screen.

Moose Boats Delivers Patrol Vessel to Oakland Police

Moose Boats, a designer and builder of aluminum boats, has delivered a Moose M2-37 security and patrol vessel to the Oakland Police Department to provide expanded patrol duties at the Port of Oakland in addition to shallow draft response for Oakland’s waterfront. The procurement by City of Oakland was funded by  U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s 2010 Port Security Grant Program. Port of Oakland to Strengthen Security

With $750,000 in state grants received earlier this year, the port has said it will acquire a new array of security equipment ranging from global positioning devices to hydraulic traffic barriers. The equipment, slated for purchase next year, would allow the port to monitor the movement of trucks in and around its terminals, block all roadways leading to its berth areas, and patrol the waterways surrounding the fourth busiest container port in the nation. Already on-line for a total cost of $196,000 are 2,000 radio frequency identification (RFI) devices that will be mounted on trucks using the port's maritime terminals. The devices would allow the port to monitor truck movement.

ADT to Install $4.75M Security System at Port of Oakland

The Port of Oakland announced today the award of a $4.75 million maritime security enhancement contract to Florida-based ADT Security Services, Inc., a unit of Tyco Fire & Security. Under the contract, ADT will install an integrated security system using advanced technology to assist the Port of Oakland, the nation's fourth busiest container port, in its overall security assessment and improvement program. The contract is being funded through a 2002 seaport security grant award from the federal Transportation Security Administration. The contract calls for a comprehensive system design: automated access control, video surveillance, perimeter intrusion detection, as well as an integrated communications infrastructure.
