Ocean Rig UDW Beats on Revenue

Ocean Rig UDW Inc, the offshore drilling contractor, posted revenue of $452.6 million in the second-quarter, beating Wall Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $385.7 million. The company has reported second-quarter profit of $155.6 million. The company said it had profit of $1.83 per share. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 71 cents per share. "Despite the continued positive operational performance of the Company (fleet utilization for the second quarter of 96.3%) the market conditions remain extremely negative. Ocean Rig, Petrobras Agree to $1.1b Drill Ships Lease

Cyprus-based Ocean Rig UDW Inc said on Monday that it signed a $1.1 billion three-year contract with Brazil's state-run oil company, Petroleo Brasileiro SA, to extend a lease on two ultra-deepwater drilling ships. Petrobras, as the Brazilian oil company is known, will get the ships, the Ocean Rig Corcovado and Ocean Rig Mykonos, for 1,095 days, Ocean Rig said in a statement. The period and price translate into an average rate for each of the vessels of $502,283 per day. The Corcovado was expected to earn an average day rate of $464,800 and Mykonos $459,700 in the second half of 2014, according to Ocean Rig's second-quarter financial statements. Ultra-deep water is considered water deeper than 1,500 meters (4,921 feet).

Mr. Khanna departed on 2, October 2012 to pursue other interests and his duties will be absorbed by the existing management team. Ocean Rig, headquartered in Cyprus, owns and operates 6 Drilling Units, the 2 drilling rigs Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude and the 4 drill ships Ocean Rig Corcovado, Ocean Rig Olympia, Ocean Rig Poseidon and Ocean Rig Mykonos. All 6 units are constructed for Ultra Deep Waters and Harsh Environment. In addition it has 3 Ultra Deep Water Drillships under construction, capable to work in 12, 000 feet water depth.

Ocean Rig: 3-Year Drilling Contract for Ocean Rig Olympia

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (NASDAQ:ORIG)  received a Letter of Award for its ultra deepwater drillship “Ocean Rig Olympia”, from a major oil company. The Letter of Award is for a three- year contract for drilling offshore West Africa, with an estimated backlog of approximately $652 million. The Letter of Award is subject to completion of definitive documentation and receipt of regulatory approvals. The contract is expected to commence in direct continuation of the Ocean Rig Olympia’s existing contract in West Africa. The customer would have the option to extend the contract for two periods of one year each, with the first option exercisable within one year from the commencement date under the drilling contract…

Ocean Rig: Three Year Drilling Contract

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (NASDAQ:ORIG) signed a new drilling contract for its semisubmersible drilling rig “Leiv Eiriksson” with a consortium coordinated by Rig Management Norway for drilling on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. total revenue backlog is estimated at $653 million for a minimum period of 1070 days. The new contract is a well-based contract for 15 wells and will commence in the fourth quarter of 2012 or the first quarter of 2013. The contract includes three options of 6 wells each that have to be exercised well in advance of the expiry of the firm period. Ocean Rig UDW: Olympia Contract Novated

Ocean Rig UDW (NASDAQ: ORIG) announced that the remainder of the existing drilling contract with Vanco for the 6th generation drillship Ocean Rig Olympia has been novated to a Europe based operator for drilling offshore West Africa. The remaining duration provides for  120 days of work, for a contract value of approximately $60m. DryShips Takes Delivery of First Newbuilding Drillship

DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS) announced that its 78% owned subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. took delivery of its newbuilding drillship, the Ocean Rig Corcovado. The Ocean Rig Corcovado is the first to be delivered of the four sister drillship vessels that are being constructed at Samsung Heavy Industries. The construction of all vessels is progressing well and according to schedule. The vessels are sixth generation advanced capability ultra-deep water drillships, each with a drilling capability of 10,000 feet. The naming ceremony of the first two vessels, Ocean Rig Corcovado and Ocean Rig Olympia, was held in December 2010, at Samsung shipyard.

Dryships Results for Q3 2010

DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS), a global provider of marine transportation services for drybulk cargoes and offshore oil deepwater drilling, announced its unaudited financial and operating results for the third quarter and nine-month period ended September 30, 2010. For the third quarter of 2010, the Company reported net income of $49.3 million, or $0.18 basic and diluted earnings per share.
