All American Marine to Build Research Vessel for Cal Poly Humboldt

Bellingham, Wash. shipbuilder All American Marine (AAM) announced it has been awarded a contract to build a new research vessel for the marine sciences program at  the California Polytechnical Institute at Humboldt (Cal Poly).The vessel is a 78’ x 26.7’ semi-displacement aluminum catamaran that was developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design in Auckland, New Zealand. The vessel will be inspected to U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Subchapter T standards and will operate as a multipurpose research vessel in the Near Coastal Waters of Northern California and Oregon, as well as Offshore on Ocean Routes.

All American Marine Delivers Research Vessel for the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa

Bellingham, Wash. shipbuilder All American Marine (AAM) announced it has delivered a new research vessel for the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa on behalf of the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB).The state-of-the-art research vessel, Imua, is a 68.5’ x 25’ semi-displacement aluminum catamaran hull that was developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design in Auckland, New Zealand. The vessel contains proven design elements found in the recently commissioned research vessels Blue Manta and Shearwater built for BlueTide Puerto Rico and Duke University

AAM to Build Research Vessel for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

All American Marine (AAM) on Tuesday revealed it has been awarded a contract to build a research vessel for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation (UHF), on the behalf of the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB). This research vessel, with construction already underway in AAM’s facility on Bellingham Bay, is a 68.5’ x 25’ semi-displacement aluminum catamaran hull that was developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design in Auckland, New Zealand.

Halter Marine Awarded Contract for T-AGS 67

Pascagoula, Miss. shipbuilder Halter Marine has been awarded a $149,053,160 fixed-price-incentive (firm target) modification to definitize contract number N00024-19-C-2208 for the detail design and construction of one oceanographic survey ship (T-AGS 67), the U.S. Department of Defense announced on Friday.The shipyard has delivered the seven previous survey ships in the Pathfinder-class, the first of which, USNS Pathfinder (T-AGS-60), entered service in 1994. Today, six of the ships are still operational, including the newest ship, USNS Maury (T-AGS-66), commissioned in 2016.Owned by the U.S.

All American Marine to Build Research Vessel for BLUETIDE

Bellingham, Wash. boatbuilder All American Marine announced it recently secured a contract to construct a research vessel for BLUETIDE Puerto Rico. The 73- by 26.7-foot aluminum catamaran will be constructed to USCG Subchapter T standards for use on both near coastal and ocean routes.The twin-engine vessel will be BLUETIDE’S first for its marine research, education, innovation and conservation work based out of Puerto Rico. Duke Receives Funding for New Research Vessel

Duke University said it has received $11 million for the construction and operation of a new state-of-the-art vessel that will expand teaching and research capabilities at its marine lab. The gift to the Nicholas School of the Environment from the Grainger Family Descendants Fund, a donor-advised fund at The Chicago Community Trust, provides $5 million to build the new 68-foot oceangoing research vessel and an additional $6 million to support operating costs. The ship will have wet labs and dry labs, oceanographic equipment, a galley and sleeping quarters. It will be an oceangoing classroom to train undergraduate and graduate students in oceanography and marine biology at the Duke Marine Lab at Beaufort, N.C.

RV Sally Ride Enters Dry Dock for Maintenance

The Sally Ride, a Neil Armstrong Class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research (AGOR) vessel, dry docked at Bay Ship and Yacht on April 15, 2017, to carry out modifications to superstructure and to perform general vessel maintenance. Named for the late astronaut Sally Ride, the ship is 238 feet long and incorporates the latest technologies, including high-efficiency diesel engines, emissions controls for stack gases, and new information technology tools both for monitoring shipboard systems and for communicating with the world.

Great Ships of 2014: R/V Neil Armstrong - Multifaceted Sea Explorer

The Ocean Class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research (AGOR) vessel hull number 27 started its official life as the R/V Neil Armstrong, the first research vessel named after a space explorer. The ship was designed by Guido Perla and Associates and built at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI). R/V Neil Armstrong will replace the R/V Knorr, in service since 1968, one year before Armstrong’s walk on the moon. The R/V Knorr, AGOR-15, is retiring after logging over one million miles in service to the Navy and WHOI.

Oceanographic R/V 'Sally Ride' Christened

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus named the 'R/V Sally Ride' to honor the memory of Sally Ride, a scientist, innovator and educator. Ride was the first American woman and the youngest person in space. She later served as director of NASA’s Office of Exploration as well as the California Space Institute at University of California San Diego. “The christening of this ship is not only a celebration of the hard work and dedication of the men and women who have brought this vessel from an idea to a reality, but also of the spirit of exploration and discovery shared by Sally Ride and the United States Navy,” said Mabus. On March 29, the Ocean Class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research (AGOR) vessel hull number 27 started its official life as the R/V Neil Armstrong, the first research vessel named after a space explorer. Carol Armstrong, the widow of the famed astronaut, performed the christening duties during a brief sunbreak on a windy and rainy Pacific Northwest afternoon. The number of illustrious speakers highlighted the rich diversity of agencies involved in the design, construction and operation of the vessel.

Rhotheta and Metaocean Establish Cooperation

On May 1, 2012 Rhotheta USA, Inc and MetOcean Data Systems announced  they have entered into a cooperation agreement to support requirements for recovery of underwater assets and oceanographic equipment. Mitcham Industries 4Q & Year-End Results

Mitcham Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIND) announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 fourth quarter and year ended January 31, 2009. The company reported total revenues of $16.2m for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 compared to $20.8m in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 was $421,000, or $0.04 per diluted share, compared to net income of $3.3m, or $0.32 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Fourth quarter earnings were impacted by a $2.4m charge to the company's provision for doubtful accounts and a gain of $580,000 resulting from an insurance settlement on equipment destroyed during Hurricane Ike. Absent these two items, fourth quarter 2009 net income was approximately $1.6m, or $0.16 per diluted share.

Mitcham Industries 3Q 2009 Results

Mitcham Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIND) announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 third quarter ended October 31, 2008. Core leasing revenues increased 19 percent to $10m for the third quarter of fiscal 2009 from $8.4m for the third quarter of fiscal 2008. Net income for the third quarter increased to $2.7m, or $0.27 per diluted share, from $2.4m, or $0.24 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2008. The company announced today that Seamap was awarded orders totaling approximately $11m by The Polarcus Group of Companies (Polarcus), a new entrant in the marine seismic market, to equip all six of its new state-of-the-art vessels with the GunLink 4000 fully distributed digital gun controller systems and BuoyLink RGPS tail buoy positioning systems.
