Odfjell Announces Deals to Add Six Newbuilds

Norwegian shipping company Odfjell SE announced it is expanding its fleet with six newbuildings through a combination of long-term time charter and pool agreements with Japanese shipowners and shipyards.This increases the total to twelve 25,000 - 40,000 dwt stainless steel vessels to be delivered on long-term time charters and pool agreements between 2024 and 2027.The series of newbuildings will be built at multiple shipyards in Japan and are scheduled to be delivered from 1H2026 to 1H2027.

Norwegian shipping firm Odfjell SE has appointed Harald Fotland as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Fotland comes from the position as Odfjell's Chief Operating Officer, and will assume the CEO position on May 6, 2022."We are pleased to have an internal candidate take over the helm at Odfjell. Odfjell Sells Its Last Short-sea Vessels

Norwegian shipowner Odfjell SE said it has sold off the last of its short-sea chemical tankers as it sharpens its focus on larger ships in the deep sea segment.The company announced Tuesday it has entered into a sales agreement for the last three 9,000 dwt short-sea vessels—Bow Fuling, Bow Dalian and Bow Nangang—that have operated in the company’s regional Asian trade. The sale marks an exit from Odfjell’s short-sea regional trade in Asia as the remaining vessel on a time charter to Odfjell will also be redelivered to its owners in January 2022."These vessels have not been able to deliver satisfactory results and we have consequently taken the decision to exit this niche market," the company said in a press release.

Odfjell Completes Exit from Gas Carrier Segment

On August 16, 2021, Odfjell Gas Shipowning AS, a subsidiary 100% owned by Odfjell SE, entered into a transaction agreement with BW Epic Kosan Ltd. (BWEK) for the sale of two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ethylene carriers, Bow Guardian and Bow Gallant, both built in Korea in 2008.The purchase price will be settled partly in cash, to be used for the full repayment of mortgaged loans on the vessels, and partly by the issuance of 6,889,611 freely transferable shares in BWEK. Odfjell Names Jensen as Chief Sustainability Officer

Norwegian tanker shipping company Odfjell SE said it has appointed Øistein Jensen to fill the newly created Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) executive position. Jensen, currently Odfjell’s Chief of Staff, takes on the new role and will lead Odfjell SE’s company-wide work on environmental, social and governance matters (ESG).“Our appointment of a Chief Sustainability Officer reflects our firm commitment to ESG and the responsibility we take as a global operator. Odfjell Adds Navig8 Chemical Tankers

Navig8 Chemical Tankers, an international shipping company focused on the transportation of chemicals,  has agreed to enter four of its 25,000-dwt chemical tankers into a pool operated by the Norwegian tanker owner and operator Odfjell.Following the delivery of the vessels, the 'Chempool25' will total 19 vessels with Odfjell contributing with ten vessels, CTG five vessels and N8CTI four vessels. Odfjell will continue to be the operator of all vessels in the pool.“We are pleased to welcome N8CTI as a partner. Chemical Tanker Market to Recover

The recovery of the chemical tanker market continued into the second quarter as main drivers were strong US exports and healthy volume development throughout the quarter on main trades, said Odfjell SE.The Clean Petroleum Products (CPP) market weakened which led to a net increase of 20 coated MR's trading chemical/veg-oils during the quarter, hereby increasing supply pressure for chemical tankers towards the end of the quarter, said the company specializing in worldwide seaborne transportation and storage of chemicals and other specialty bulk liquids.The global chemical tanker order book stands at 6.6% of the current fleet. The global deep-sea fleet based on vessels larger than 18,000 dwt grew by net 6 vessels in 2Q19 as 8 vessels were delivered, and 2 vessels were scrapped.

Odfjell Sells Stake in Chinese Terminal

Norwegian shipping and tank terminal company Odfjell SE has finalized the sale of its indirect 55% equity stake in Odfjell Terminals Jiangyin (OTJ), China.Reference is made to the stock exchange announcement of May 8th, 2018, in which Odfjell SE (Odfjell) announced that Lindsay Goldberg (LG) is considering a sale of its 49% shareholding in Odfjell Terminals BV.After LG completed the sales of its shareholdings in the US and European terminals, LG is now in the process of selling its shareholding in the Asian terminals. Chemical Tanker Market Improves: Odfjell

The chemical tanker market saw continued improvements into what normally is a seasonally weaker first quarter, said Odfjell Group, a company specialising in worldwide seaborne transportation and storage of chemicals and other speciality bulk liquids.Strong exports from the US and Middle East were key drivers in this quarter which also impacted other trade lanes as well. There was less supply pressure from swing tonnage during the quarter, but we experienced some increased competition especially in the Middle East towards the end of the quarter.The global core chemical tanker orderbook stands at 7% of the current fleet. The global deep-sea fleet based on vessels larger than 18,000 dwt grew by net 10 vessels in 1Q19 as 12 vessels were delivered, and 2 vessels were scrapped.

Odfjell Finalizes Sale of Rotterdam Tank Terminal

Norwegian shipping and tank terminal company Odfjell SE announced on Thursday that it has finalized the sale of its tank terminal in Europe's largest port.The company announced in July that Odfjell Terminals entered into an agreement with Koole Terminals B.V. of the Netherlands to sell its 100 percent ownership of Odfjell Terminals Rotterdam in a move to help reduce debt. Odfjell said the sale has generated $100 million of cash proceeds.The terminal in the Port of Rotterdam has total storage capacity of 1,622,000 cbm in 270 tanks.

Sale of Rotterdam Terminal Impacts Odfjell

Tank terminal transactions will further strengthen Odfjell SE but the company experienced another challenging quarter in the chemical tanker markets.The second quarter 2018 results reflect the impact of the sale of the Rotterdam terminal, while underlying results from Odfjell Terminals improved compared to the previous quarter. Lindsay Goldberg Mulls Selling Stake in Odfjell Terminals

Odfjell SE said it has been informed by Lindsay Goldberg that they are considering a sale of its 49% shareholding in Odfjell Terminals B.V.Lindsay Goldberg has been Odfjell's joint venture partner in Odfjell Terminals's U.S. and European terminals since 2011. In 2013, the partnership was expanded to include Odfjell Terminals's global terminal operations.Odfjell said it continues to consider Odfjell Terminals as core business and emphasized its long term commitment to owning, developing and operating tank terminals.

Morch Elected to J. Lauritzen BoD

Danish shipping company J. Lauritzen adds CEO of Norwegian Odfjell, Kristian V. Mørch, and CFO of the cleaning company ISS, Barbara Plucnar Jensen, into its board of directors. "J. Odfjell SE has appointed Harald Fotland as chief operations officer (COO), effective January 5, 2018. The Norwegian tanker shipping firm said it is introducing a COO function to ensure full integration between ship management and commercial operations. “With the new structure, Odfjell Tankers will have common and aligned goals across all functions relating to chemical tankers,” the company said. Odfjell, Sinochem Form Chemical Tanker Pool

Odfjell SE said it has signed Framework Agreement with Sinochem Shipping Singapore Pte. Ltd whereby the Norwegian ship owner will take four vessels on long-term bareboat charter and together form a pool of eight 40,900 dwt chemical tankers. The four chemical tankers are part of Sinochem’s series of eight ordered from Hantong Wing Shipyard in China. Sinochem will retain ownership of the series’ four other vessels, which together with the bareboat vessels will form a pool managed by Odfjell SE and trading as part of the Odfjell Tankers fleet.

Ellis Named Chembulk Tanker CEO

Chembulk Tankers appointed David Ellis as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Jack Noonan who will retire after 10 years of leading the team at Chembulk Tankers. Effective November 1, 2017, Jack will take on the role of CEO Emeritus through the balance of the year and will continue to advise and counsel Chembulk as part of the leadership transition. Ellis has more than 30 years in chemical and petroleum transportation experience, including over 20 years with Odfjell SE in various leadership roles culminating in the global leadership position in Odfjell’s joint venture with Lindsay Goldberg. He most recently served as CEO of Waypoint Solutions LLC, a Houston-based company he founded in 2016 to develop, buy, and operate midstream assets.

Odfjell Divests Share in Singapore Tank Terminal

Odfjell Terminals B.V. has entered into an agreement with a fund managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets to sell its 50 percent ownership in Oiltanking Odfjell Terminal Singapore Pte Ltd for a price around $300 million. This implies an enterprise value of around $330 million for Odfjell Terminals B.V.'s share in the Singapore terminal. “This divestment is in line with our strategy to focus on the terminals where we have managerial control of the assets and to further invest in growth opportunities in our core markets, such as Houston and Rotterdam," said Frank Erkelens, CEO of Odfjell Terminals B.V. The transaction will result in a net gain for Odfjell SE of approximately $135 million (Odfjell SE's share).

Odfjell Acquires Five Chemical Tankers

Odfjell SE informs it has signed a final agreement to acquire five chemical tanker newbuilds from Chemical Transportation Group, Inc (CTG) and form a pool of 15 chemical tankers. The transaction has been signed and completed, Odfjell said, after it announced on June 16 that it inked a term sheet with CTG to form the vessel pool and acquire CTG’s final five 25,000 dwt stainless steel newbuilds on order from Chinese shipyard AVIC Dingheng. Odfjell said it will pay $40 million per vessel upon delivery from shipyard.

Odfjell Buys 5 Chemical Tanker Newbuilds

Odfjell SE informs it has signed a term sheet with Chemical Transportation Group, Inc (CTG) whereby Odfjell will acquire the last five of a total newbuilding order of 10 25,000 dwt vessels with 24 stainless steel tanks from Chinese ship builder AVIC Dingheng. CTG will continue to own five vessels which will be placed in a pool commercially managed by Odfjell Tankers AS. The vessels will, together with Odfjell's current fleet of five 25,000 dwt vessels and the five vessels acquired by Odfjell, form a pool for 15 25,000 dwt chemical tankers. The vessels acquired by Odfjell will be bought at $40 million per vessel upon delivery from yard, and are scheduled for delivery from June 2017 through May 2018.

Odfjell Buys Secondhand Chemical Tanker

Oslo listed shipping firm Odfjell SE said it has purchased a secondhand stainless steel chemical tanker for $25.5 million.   The M/T Argent Eyebright, built in 2009 by Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan, has 16 stainless steel tanks.   On short term time charter to Odfjell Tankers since January 2017, Argent Eyebright will be renamed and put under NIS flag after closing the transaction end of June.
