Changing the Landscape of LNG Production

Successful completion of the Petronas Floating LNG facility (PFLNG) Satu is a milestone for the oil and gas industry and for the Malaysian energy giant. Designed by consortium leader TechnipFMC and fabricated at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering yard in South Korea, PFLNG Satu achieved the first-ever production of LNG offshore in December 2016. Kongsberg Tech Chosen for 13 Newbuild Projects

Kongsberg Maritime’s Full Picture solution has been selected by Chinese and Korean shipbuilders for 13 advanced newbuild offshore vessels with a total value of 330 MNOK. Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co. Kongsberg Awarded Several New Asian Projects

Kongsberg Maritime was recently awarded separate contracts with three major shipyards in Asia for major technology deliveries to specialist offshore vessels. Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea, and Cosco Shipyard in China have each selected Kongsberg “Full Picture” solutions for, in total, nine advanced Offshore Drilling Units, an Accommodation Unit, a Multipurpose Construction Vessel and four LNG vessels with Integrated Automation Systems.

Otto Marine Makes AHTS Sale, Re-charter Deal

Singapore's Otto Marine Ltd. has sold through one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, whose shipyard is located in Indonesia, the 2 Anchor Handling Towage & Supply Vessels (AHTS) to a third party buyer for re-chartering. The aggregrate price of the two AHTS was US$ 170-million. On or around the completion of the sale of the vessels, they would be chartered by the buyer to one of the company’s wholly-owned subsidiaries, Otto Fleet Pte. Ltd. (“Otto Fleet”), for a period of 8 years. The Vessels would in turn be hired by one of the Company’s subsidiaries, GO Offshore (Asia) Pte.

Bibby Offshore Announces Singapore Charter Agreement

Subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has announced a three-year bareboat charter agreement with Solstad Offshore Asia Pacific Ltd. for the NOR Spring, a  DP2 (Dynamic Positioning) Anchor Handling Support Vessel (AHSV). The deal has been struck by Bibby Offshore’s Singapore operation, Bibby Offshore Singapore Pte Ltd. 30 TORO Crew Transfer Capsules Around the Globe

Reflex Marine has sold 30 TORO crew transfer capsules across offshore Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and West Africa, Australia and America. Most of the units are being utilized by major international oil and gas operators, however, the company has also entered the renewables sector, selling four capsules for use on wind turbine installation barges. While Reflex Marine’s range of crew transfer capsules are an accepted and established method of crew transfer in the oil and gas industry, safe access to offshore wind turbines is still a key concern for operators.

New Bourbon Training Center Asia

On Nov. 7 Bourbon inaugurated its Training Center Asia and its AHTS simulator in Singapore in the premises of Bourbon Offshore Asia. The opening of this second Bourbon Training Center in Asia follows the opening of the Manila’s (Philippines) center in October 2007 dedicated to Dynamic Positioning (DP). This Bourbon Training Center includes an AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel) simulator that represents a technological advance and an opportunity for Bourbon and the marine industry as a whole to raise its operational, safety and quality standards. The Bourbon Training Center Asia aims to train all AHTS crew members of Bourbonr who are based in Asia. It is designed to provide seamen with the theoretical knowledge and practical training in anchor handling operations.

Canyon Offshore Appoints Commercial Manager

Canyon Offshore-Asia Pacific, based in Singapore has announced the appointment of Jerry Rowbury to the position of Commercial Manager-Asia Pacific. Rowbury will be based out of Canyon Offshore’s Singapore facility and will be responsible for ROV sales, marketing, business development and commercial activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Rowbury is a Chartered Hydrographic Surveyor with more than 20 years industry experience. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and a member of the Royal Institute of Navigation and the Hydrographic Society.
