Solstad Offshore to Exit Platform Supply Vessel Business. Agrees to Sell 37 Vessels to Tidewater

Norwegian offshore support vessel owner Solstad Offshore has agreed to sell 37 platform supply vessels to the U.S. firm Tidewater for $577 million.The sale will mark Solstad Offshore's exit from the platform supply vessel sector. Ongoing PSV charter parties will be transferred to Tidewater. Solstad will offer management services to Tidewater in a transition period to facilitate a smooth transfer for the parties and the customers.The offshore employees associated with the PSV Fleet will be offered employment with Tidewater.

SAYFR, MSI ink MOU to collaborate on Safety Culture, Loss Prevention

Safely Navigating the Winds of Change

Speedcast Offers Intellian v240MT Antenna

Satellite communications provider Speedcast International said it will begin to offer Intellian’s v240MT antenna to customers in the cruise and offshore energy sectors.The v240MT is Intellian’s next generation, tri-band and multi-orbit 2.4 meter antenna for use on Ku, Ka and C-band satellites. Damen Debuts New Fast Crew Supplier Vessel

Damen Shipyards Group has introduced a new model to its Fast Crew Supplier range: the FCS 2710, which builds on the FCS 2610 first introduced in 2011.The first FCS 2710 vessel is already in build at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem for delivery in July 2018. The FCS 2710 retains the twin hull, axe bow design. However, as the offshore energy industry has evolved in recent years so has its requirements for crew transfer vessels and the regulations that govern them. Damen has listened to the feedback and designed a vessel that retains much of the fundamental design of the 2610, but delivers the additional capacity and performance sought by operators today.“The 2610 really was the first vessel of its kind.

Multraship’s New ASD Tugs Named in the Netherlands

Two Damen ASD 3212 tugs for towage and salvage specialist Multraship have been named on June 24 at Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The Multratug 29 and Multratug 30, named respectively by Rita de Ruijter- Ribbens and Els Otten- Muller,  were built at the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam, and operate for Multraship as sister vessels to Multratug 19. The 32-meter tugs, which have a bollard pull of 82 metric tons, are notable for their sea-keeping behavior, maneuverability and towing characteristics, the shipbuilder said.

Seacat Services Invests In New Vessels

Offshore energy support vessel operator Seacat Services has placed an order for up to four new vessels with local boat builder South Boats IoW. The DNV-GL class-certified next generation 23- and 27-meter catamarans have been specifically designed to cater for the changing needs of European offshore projects. As the offshore wind industry matures, the expectations of developers and operators regarding energy support vessel availability, reliability and passenger comfort, are continuing to grow. In established markets, such as the U.K. and Germany, larger, deepwater projects are commencing construction, and the latest 27-meter vessel, Seacat Enterprise, will provide a new platform with which to serve these projects.

LOC Expands to Australia's East Coast

London Offshore Consultants (LOC), a global marine and engineering consultant for the shipping and offshore energy sectors, announces plans to increase its presence in Australia. Global Marine Trends 2030
