Iran Shipbuilder Signs MoU With Netherlands’ Damen

Iran’s Arvandan Shipbuilding Company and Netherlands’ Damen Shipyards signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in shipbuilding industry, reports Trend News Agency. The deal envisages cooperation in manufacturing advanced offshore vessels in Iran, the Iranian company announced in a statement. The cooperation will include technology and the transfer of know-how to Iran while employing domestic capacities in shipbuilding. Managed by Iran’s Social Security Investment Company (Shasta), Arvandan is specialized in building vessels up to 2,500 dwt, including crew boats, passenger ships, pilot boats, barges and multi-purpose cargo vessels.

Iran Strikes $2.4bn Ship Order with Korea

Iran has placed orders worth around $2.4 billion with South Korean shipyards for the construction of ships to carry Iran’s oil and petrochemical products, The Wall Street Journal says. The orders have been placed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and the oil producer Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC). The Korean companies involved in the case are Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, which is a subsidiary of shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, as well as Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, a subsidiary of shipbuilding company Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, for as many as 10 petroleum-product tankers and at least six so-called handysize bulk carriers.

DSME to Manage Iranian Shipbuilder

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) has signed a business agreement with the Iranian government on operation and technology instruction for Iranian state-run shipbuilder Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex Co. (ISOICO), reports the Pulse. Under the agreement, the South Korea’s shipbuilder will transfer technology and conduct consignment management on the Iranian shipbuilder. The deal is expected to help DSME and other domestic shipbuilders win orders from refiners and other companies in Iran. ISOICO is currently capable of constructing up to four 80,000-dwt vessels per year and is able to build bulk carriers, containerships and product tankers, but has ambitions to build larger and more sophisticated vessels.

Iranian Shipbuilding Company Signs $5b Deal with Venezuela

Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Co. (ISOICO) has managed to conclude an agreement worth $5b on the development of marine industries and shipbuilding with Venezuela, noted Iran's deputy industries and mines minister Mohsen Shaterzadeh. Also, Iran, Venezuela and Bolivia have signed a trilateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the expansion of the shipbuilding industries, the Iranian official told Mehr News Agency. Iran's non-oil exports last year hit $10,500,000,000, Shaterzadeh further explained adding, industrial products accounted for 77 percent of the figure. Source: Mehr News Agency
