MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announces changes in its operative structure and starts a reorganization into seven operative divisions which will become effective on January 1, 2015. The six new operative divisions together with Global Lifecycle Support as the seventh one will enable MacGregor to improve customer service throughout the lifecycle of the products, offer more comprehensive packages and boost the development of new shiptype-specific solutions, the company said. The MacGregor portfolio has grown through acquisitions and now comprises of also Hatlapa, Porsgrunn, Pusnes,Triplex and Woodfield products. The new divisions will work closely together in marketing…

Two MacGregor Subsea Cranes Ordered for Chinese PSVs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a new contract from Chinese shipbuilder, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd., for two 100-metric-ton active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor cranes. The cranes will be fitted to two 86-meter multipurpose platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction at the yard. Delivery of the cranes is scheduled for the end of September and October 2015. "A key quality of PSVs is that they are able to perform a wide variety of tasks effectively in demanding offshore environments.

MacGregor Acquires Norwegian Offshore Lifting Firm

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, says it has acquired Norwegian privately-owned Deep Water Solutions AS, a company specialising in lifting applications utilising electric multi-drive technology. "Customer requirements for environmentally friendly solutions are increasing in offshore load handling applications, such as subsea cranes, module handling and LARS (launch and recovery) systems and having Deep Water Solutions' experts in the MacGregor family we enhance and strengthen our multi-drive (electric) technology know-how to be able better to serve and support our customers"…

Cargotec Secures Vietnamese Pipelayer with Mooring Solutions

A contract for mooring equipment for a pipelaying barge marks Cargotec’s successful entry to the Vietnamese offshore market. In July this year, Cargotec won a contract from the joint stock company Vinh Nam (VAM JSC)/TECMACH  to supply mooring equipment outfits for Vietsovpetro’s 110m-long by 30.5m-breadth pipelaying crane barge, Con Son. The 1969-built vessel is currently undergoing a conversion at Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd. “The signing of this maiden contract in Vietnam demonstrates our client’s confidence in our capability,” says Gavin Lim, Cargotec's director of sales for towing and mooring solutions. Cargotec wins Award from MHI Shimonoseki Shipyard

Cargotec won the Best Supplier award 2010 from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shimonoseki shipyard in Japan. It was given to Cargotec’s Offshore business and local Japanese team and, in part, is recognition of the company’s drive to understand future customer needs through the provision of an extensive geographic presence and strong collaboration with customers. “This award is a great acknowledgement from an important customer in the Asian market,” says Edvin TunheimTønnessen, Cargotec contract manager, Advanced Load Handling.

Cargotec Delivers Cranes for Volstad OCV

Safe and efficient MacGregor 250-tonne AHC subsea crane

In April Cargotec secured an order to supply two active heave-compensated (AHC) cranes for Volstad Maritime's large offshore construction vessel (OCV) on order at Bergen Group Fosen shipyard in Norway (hull 89), which is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2012. The contract comprises a 250-tonne MacGregor AHC subsea crane and a 15-tonne MacGregor AHC offshore crane. The advanced OCV is an ST-259-CD design from Skipsteknisk, and is 125m long and 25m wide. The vessel is designed to the highest environmental standards and Clean Design requirements. It will be classed to Ice-1A.

Anchor-handling Capabilities Secure New Order For Cargotec

Cargotec has won a contract to supply two sets of MacGregor anchor-handling systems for two anchor-handling tug /supply / oil recovery vessels under construction at a Chinese Shipyard for a Singaporean owner. The anchor-handling equipment is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2011 and it will be manufactured at Cargotec’s facilities for offshore load handling in Singapore and China. •        telescopic deck cranes. The anchor-handling towing winches have a 380 tonnes line pull and a 500 tonnes static brake. The bollard pull of these ABS classed vessels is 150 – 160 tonnes.

Cargotec Orders MacGregor Anchor-Handling Systems

In October Cargotec has secured a $14m order from the Sinopacific Group in China for the supply of a further 16-shipsets of anchor-handling systems for Bourbon’s newbuildings. The shipsets will be delivered between April 2011 and February 2012. This contract follows an order placed in June this year for four ships in the same series, the first shipset is scheduled for delivery in Q1/2011. The systems will be installed on anchor handling and tug supply (AHTS) vessels based on an SPA80 design and built by Zhejiang Shipyard.

Ezra Orders MacGregor Cargotec Cranes

Cargotec will deliver two large offshore cranes to Singapore-based Ezra Marine Service Pte Ltd in 2010 and beginning of 2011 respectively. The cranes will be fitted to a deepwater anchor-handling towing/supply vessel (AHTS) and to a self-propelled accommodation barge. The value of the order is approximately $16.4m and it was booked in the first quarter 2010 order intake. The order comprises two large active heave-compensated subsea knuckle-jib cranes. The first is for an ultra-deepwater AHTS. This 150 tonne SWL crane has an under-deck mounted winch with a 3,000m wire.

Cargotec Acquires Offshore Service Company

Cargotec’s MacGREGOR business area providing marine cargo handling and offshore load handling solutions has signed an agreement to acquire US based Platform Crane Services International Inc (PCS). The sales of the company in 2007 were approximately USD 16 million and the company employs 105 persons. The transaction is subject to due diligence. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
