Leading the way for client representative training in offshore renewables industry . An operational offshore energy course, providing training in the running and delivery of offshore renewables projects, has received industry recognition from the Renewables Training Network (RTN). The Client Representative Course, run by Offshore Marine Academy (OMA), received the ‘RTN Recommended’ status earlier this month, highlighting the academy’s ambitions to meet training demand as well as to close the skills gap within the industry.

Six offshore wind energy trainees from North Wales have successfully completed a year-long training program with the UK’s only dedicated academy for the offshore wind industry and are ready to take up positions in this rapidly expanding industry. The trainees were fortunate enough to be selected for Offshore Marine Academy structured traineeship, which selects candidates with an affinity for the marine and coastal environment and aim to prepare them for a new career in offshore wind.

Offshore wind trainees test their sea legs at Plymouth University. Six offshore wind trainees got their first hands-on experience of seamanship and navigation skills onboard the 33 foot yacht “Fairtide” earlier this month as a culmination of a four-day course at Plymouth University’s School of Marine Science and Engineering. Six young men from North Wales have taken their first steps into a new career in the offshore wind energy industry having been accepted as trainees with the UK’s only dedicated trainee academy for the offshore wind industry, Offshore Marine Academy. Ranging in age from 20 to 24, the trainees come from a variety of backgrounds including plumbing, the Royal Marines and electronics, but all applied with the aim of starting a long-term career in the growing local offshore wind industry.

The first group of trainees to complete the inaugural 12-month training program with the UK’s only dedicated academy for the offshore wind industry have all successfully started work in new roles within the industry.
