Bibby Offshore Invests Millions

Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has announced investment of around £11million in Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems for its latest division, Bibby Remote Intervention Limited (BRIL). Initial investment of close to £4million has been made in ROV systems for Bibby Offshore’s fleet of Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) to bring the service provision in-house, while 46 jobs have been created on and offshore within the division already this year. ABB Wins German Offshore Wind Connection Order

ABB, the power and automation technology group, has won a significant order from the Dutch-German transmission grid operator TenneT to supply an AC (alternating current) power transmission link connecting Nordergründe, an offshore North Sea wind farm, to the mainland grid in Germany. The order was booked in the first quarter. Rolls-Royce Awarded £10 million PSV contract

Rolls-Royce UT755 XL design

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has secured an order to design and equip two offshore supply vessels for ship owner Gulf Offshore North Sea Ltd. The value of the contract to Rolls-Royce is approximately £10 million. The two UT755 XL designs will be built at the Rosetti Marino SpA shipyard in Ravenna, Italy, with expected delivery in 2013 and 2014. In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will provide a propulsion system for each vessel including propellers and thrusters, along with deck machinery, bulk handling equipment and a ship automation package.

Decom North Sea Helps Supply Chain Companies

An industry body set up to ensure businesses are ready to secure opportunities from decommissioning work over the coming years will shortly launch a major mapping exercise to help the supply chain benefit from the $38.6b to $46.3b of North Sea work forecast for the future. The work by Decom North Sea will help promote the capability and capacity of the North Sea supply chain for decommissioning projects, as well as showcasing supply chain companies and their individual expertise and experience.

Canyon Mobilizes Advanced Jet-Trenching Spreads

Canyon Offshore's North Sea region is currently operating two advanced jet-trenching spreads in Norwegian and Faroes/Iceland waters. Canyon Offshore's new Perry Slingsby Systems T750 Super Trencher has recently mobilized and successfully completed trials in the North Sea offshore Middlesborough. The trials were conducted onboard the Canyon operated UT 745 - ROVSV Northern Canyon. This spread is currently trenching a 12" Gas Injection flowline in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Additionally, Canyon Offshore is undertaking PLGR and PLIB projects on a telecom cable between the Faroes Islands and Iceland. Canyon's T500 trencher is being operated onboard the recently delivered UT755 Highland Eagle for the Route Clearance/Burial Assessment and Post Lay Burial tasks.
