Oil, Gas Majors Join Blockchain Consortium

A group of seven major oil and gas companies, including ExxonMobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips, announced a partnership to establish the first industry blockchain consortium in the United States.With several use cases across the industry value chain, the consortium intends to conduct proofs of concept with this emerging technology in 2019, said a press release from OOC Oil & Gas Blockchain Consortium.The OOC Oil & Gas Blockchain Consortium was founded to advance industry blockchain technology learnings for the purpose of driving industry standards, frameworks and capabilities around emerging blockchain technology. Vryhof Makes Two Senior Appointments

Johnson Joins Foss in HSQE Role

Grant Johnson has joined Foss Maritime as Vice President of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSQE), responsible for overseeing, growing and strengthening HSQE performance. Johnson arrives at Foss from TechnipFMC, an international energy services provider, where he served in various capacities including Director of Worldwide Fleet Management, Asset Technical Director, and most recently as manager of TechnipFMC's contract with Marine Well Containment Company. Before joining TechnipFMC, Johnson held various positions with BP's Alaskan, Shipping and U.S.

Corporate Competance Key to Offshore Safety

Andy Woolgar of Subsea 7, President of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) raises the issue of elevating competence from the marine contracting sector’s offshore workplace to onshore and management personnel and ‘corporate’ competence in his President’s letter in the latest issue of IMCA’s quarterly newsletter ‘Making Waves’. “The standard components of qualifications, skills and experience that are demonstrated and assessed are harder to pin to a corporation,” he writes. “But being tough does not mean it should not be done.” As background to these thoughts, he explains that IMCA members work hard to deliver safe and efficient projects. “Much of IMCA’s delivery for members is in support of this aim. Waldrup Elected to Offshore Logistics’ Board of Directors

Offshore Logistics, Inc., announced that Robert W. Waldrup has been elected to its Board of Directors at the Company's recent Annual Shareholders' Meeting. Waldrup was elected to fill the position that was left vacant by the retirement of Harry C. Sager who served as a Director of Offshore Logistics, Inc. from 1994 to 2001. Waldrup served as Vice President-Operations of Newfield Exploration Company from 1991 to 2001 and also as a Director of Newfield from 1992 to 2001. He is employed on a contract part-time basis as advisor to the President of Newfield. From 1989 to 1991, Waldrup worked in Newfield's Drilling and Operations areas. Division Production Manager of the Eastern Gulf Division of Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production Company.
